Walden had felt as if he had been in a rut lately. Since the party, even before the fight, he had begun to feel trapped. He felt the pressure of trying to make influential friends but he also felt the desire to be with Fabian Prewett, a relationship that would not be approved by Bellatrix Black and Walden just wasn’t ready to put his connections on the line like that. That’s why when he caught Evan leaving the Slytherin common room that night, he had decided to accompany the boy rather than ignore him. Who didn’t like a midnight drinking session?
They had snuck out the castle and now head down to the Quidditch pitch, a place they both knew they wouldn’t be caught by prefects or the teaching staff. “-- and that’s how I broke it.” He said, slightly out of breath. It was harding walking down the slippery hill to the pitch with nothing but the light from a lumos spell. “You seem like you’ve broken your nose before? Have you?”

Walden’s heart was racing as adrenaline flooded his system. ‘What if I did?’, Evan’s intentions were clear and tonight had now taken an unexpected turn, a turn that Walden wasn’t against. He reached for the fire whiskey and took another heavy swig, maintaining his smirk. “Well, I’m not used to using people as a distraction, but I can understand where that comes from and I’ve definitely used things as distractions from the world.” Getting drunk at Hestia’s party, getting in a fist fight with Landon, hell, even Fabian was a distraction to a certain extent. Fabian. Walden actually cared for Fabian, he really did. The 7th year had become a light in a world of darkness and a part of Walden clinged to that, hoping that one day Fabian might pull him out of this all, escape from his family and blood purism pressure. But a large part of Walden believed that Magic was Might and that pure blood should be kept clean. It’s what his mother taught him, it’s what his father taught him, it’s what his friends say and believe. This tension inside himself, the secret relationship with Fabian Prewett, that’s what he needed a distraction from, and that had presented itself in the form of Evan Rosier.
“But yeah, if you’re lucky, I might be your distraction tonight.” He teased. “Or maybe, I’ll use you as my distraction.” He bit his lip as he slowly leaned into Evan’s personal space. “Or, you might have to crawl back to the castle and find some other desperate witch or wizard to be your distraction after I drink you under the bleachers!” He said playfully as he swiftly backed away and took another swig of the whiskey and offered the bottle back to Evan.
Evan has always been one to find a way to what he wants. Si vous ne trouvez pas de chemin, faites-en un. If you can’t find a path make one. Words of his family moto he’d uttered so frequently as a child and still to this day they lingered in the back of his mind as a permanent reminder never to be afraid to take what you wanted. Even at the sake of others. The raven haired Slytherin had developed a particular talent for getting what he wanted, no matter what it was. Whether that be through his words and more recently through his building aggression for the world; pussy footing around topics had never been Evan’s forte. He was direct, maybe some would say too blunt and brutally honest. But whoever said that making it know what you want and asking direct questions was ever a bad thing?
He couldn’t help his smirk turn into a almost devilish grin. “I don’t think I’d be overly mad at being used by you.” Evan spoke before taking another drag from his cigarette. “Desperate? You make it sound like I’m sneaking around with creatures of the night.” Wasn’t he though? Weren’t they all desperate for something one way or the other. Tapping the ash off the end of his cigarette, he took a moment to turn his head and really look over the other’s features; fully detailing them in his mind. Maybe it was the alcohol, but he could swear they looks different under the moonlight. “Umm perhaps it’s my impeccable charm and charisma they can’t ignore.” The male spoke sarcastically. “What was it you said earlier? Some people might find it hot.” Evan spoke with a grin, nudging him likely before moving to grab the bottle of whiskey and take a sip as if to prove his next point. “Luckily for you I’m a seasoned professional at holding my liquor. Careful- Don’t drink too much I wouldn’t want to have to drag your ass back to the castle if you can’t keep up.” The male joked sarcastically with a scoff before offering the bottle over to him. @waldxnmacnair
