AU BASICS! (See above "AU Info" link for more information.) Thanks to the interference of the former Cauldron Master, Yunhua, Dan Heng has needed to deal with an additional problem following him from a different life; Dan Feng's memories. Refusing to allow Dan Feng's memoriers to overwrite his own, Dan Heng attempts to accept and control this part of himself, as well, even if it leaves him confused more often, and typically with a lurking headache. Surely this can only be a good thing… right? (We are not at the start of his journey because I didn’t want to do that here lol)

Personal Record #3

Welt Yang. Himeko. Pom-Pom. March 7th. The Trailblazer.

These are my people, now. This is my home, and this is where I belong. It is easier to remember where I am, most of the time. The Archive is different enough I no longer wonder where I am when I wake. It makes sleeping easier, to know that I will remember I am free from that cell. From the distrust and the scrutiny.

It is difficult to remember who I am in the moment, because a Vidyadhara’s reborn body takes many iterations to deviate from what is familiar. The face I see in the mirror is too easily mistaken for his. It will for a dozen or more rebirths, yet. Had I the freedom, perhaps I would have chosen a different name. Sometimes I hear the wrong one, even when I am paying close attention.

Physical contact tends to help. It is easier to feel my body when it is being grounded. Training and sparring and meditation is not always enough. It is easier to forget who I was when they sweep me along. The isolation is comforting in its familiar fear. I am unsure how to tell them this. Perhaps the Trailblazer will stick their nose into someone else’s business, again.

This spear was never meant to be mine, but it was, and it is, and he gave it to me, except that he didn’t. Sometimes it makes everything worse. Sometimes it makes everything better.

Personal Record #2

It appears I may need a reminder of this. Or perhaps I would have remembered better had I chosen a better moment to start using this.

Vidyadhara often write detailed records of their daily lives, during ones they wish to share with their next life. I imagine this would be a life I would like to share, if I ever were allowed a proper rebirth, eventually.

I do not wish for my memories of the Nameless to disappear alongside me. These people... they are good. They are kind. I would not dare to ask for anything more.

I would hope my next life has no need to worry about memories, or things they have forgotten in the rebirth. But if they do, I hope they will be able to find a similar feeling of belonging as I have here.

It was recommended I make an account of things I may... forget. I had not previously thought of this as a solution, though perhaps I should have.

Other Vidyadhara do so, though it is typically to pass information between rebirths. This did not occur to me as something I was allowed to do, as well.

((Hi, guys! This blog was made before the release of V2.4! I had the AU in mind long before that!

I guess I'm reworking it now? It's a good thing I put actually doing anything here on hold :T

Yes it did take me like a month to get around to finishing 2.5 lol, but I will start kicking this into gear after the rework! Please feel free to send things in now and I will get to them after everything is settled again!))

Reason for rework below, in case you don't know or forgot or... just didn't process it, since it was literally one piece of dialogue in passing:

Lingsha's master wanted to do experiments on Dan Heng to preserve Dan Feng's memories through the rebirth* >:( can't be original anywhere no more :,(

EDIT: I didn't grab screenshots myself because I was in shock they just did that to us and had autoplay on, so I went and found a playthrough for a transcript

Jing Yuan: But did your mentor tell you... her "good intentions" led her to perform certain healing arts on Dan Heng, who had just finished his hatching rebirth, so that he would regain the memories of his past life? DH + LS: What did you just say? Jing Yuan: She believed that restoring the High Elder's knowledge of his past life would allow the Viyadhara to resume their duty as the guardians of the Ambrosial Arbor, quelling the strife within their clan and bringing everything back on the right path.

*As stated above I didn't screenshot it so I forgot the exact words. This was, unfortunately, the exact line of thought I had when I initially made this AU, minus the Lingsha part.
