Okay, so this is ridiculous and pissing me off. Some of you people need to know that

CREATING A CHARACTER DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE ‘ASKING FOR’ GROSS INTERPRETATIONS OF THEM.

JUST BECAUSE THEY SHARED THE CHARACTER ONLINE DOES NOT MEAN THEY WANT THE GROSS REACTIONS.

THESE REACTIONS ARE DISGUSTING, BUT THE CREATOR DOES NOT HAVE CONTROL OVER THEM.

JUST BECAUSE THEY SHARED, DOESN’T MEAN THEY WERE ASKING FOR IT.

Now, those who have followed me for a while (like, a long time) might know what I’m talking about. Those who don’t, I’ll give you a brief explanation.

I am a fan of @pmseymourva.

He’s funny, relatable, and his characters are amazing!!!

Unfortunately, with amazing, popular, FEMALE characters comes… icky reactions.

If you don’t know what’s happening, I suggest going to his blog and checking it out for yourself, because I’m honestly unable to explain how upsetting things are getting.

People are telling PM that he was ‘asking for these reactions when he shared that character’ which is bullshit.

PM didn’t ask for any of this.

All he did was share something he was proud of, something that made him happy, hoping to make people smile.

These gross reactions are out of his control, yet people are blaming him?

THIS. IS. VICTIMS. GUILT.

And it needs to stop.

Spread the word, send some positivity his way.

I know this post is probably really messy and maybe a bit hard to understand, but honestly I’m really upset. I might go more in depth on this at a later date.

PM, I really, really hope things get better soon. You don’t deserve this. You’re an amazing person who makes hundreds of people smile ever day. You’ve helped so many people, including me, out of rough situations just by existing. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Hang in there, buddy.

i’ve seen this picture a lot lately, and usually with really negative remarks, so i wanted to clarify some things.

this is a picture from a charity fundraiser for a children’s hospital that furries had raised $3,000 dollars for.. and in 2013 numerous furry conventions raised $189,820 for charities like Therapy Pets, NARF (a native american rights fund), and many wildlife preserve funds and shelters.

so yeah this person is dressed in an anthropomorphic suit and they’re being pet by a little kid, but there’s nothing inherent sexually about this (which is what im assuming most people have concerns about). cosplayers know that people and kids approach you for pictures all the time, and honestly this isn’t that different. this is just a kid who thought they were seeing a giant stuffed animal walking around and probably got excited. chill out you guys its not like the furry is getting ready to whip out a massive animal dong and slap people with it.

Also like to point out that just this week the Texas Furry Fiesta convention 2015 raised $16,000 for the Centre for Animal Research and Education.

A bunch of people in animal costumes raised all that money to help care for big cats raised in captivity, many of whom had been abandoned, abused and illegally bred. Thanks to the furries those animals can continue to live peacefully with medical care, food and companionship for the rest of their natural lives.

I just felt it was an interesting piece of recent news to share on the subject :)

Furries are a-ok in my book. Always have been. Sure there are some psychos and creeps but if I judged every fandom by the psychos I’ve met in them I’d hate EVERYTHING. Generally speaking all the furries I’ve ever encountered at cons or in the real world in general have been moderate, fun and HUGELY kind.

So, yeah. don’t be so quick to paint all furries with the same brush.

Let’s also not forget that furries are one of the biggest groups of art patrons on the internet, and are often responsible for artists being able to live off of their passion via furry commissions.

It’s true that some of them are creeps, but the same can be said of any broad group of people tied together by a single mutual interest. Most of them just enjoy dressing up in costumes.

I simply see it as cosplaying your OCs, which many people do! I personally don’t have interest in getting a fur-suit, but drawing is enough for me

I got a story! My brother makes HUGE bank off furry commissions and he decided to donate to numerous charities once he hit 3K! He now has about 200 bucks in his bank account because he's just been spending it on charities! I personally don't think being a furry is my thing, but I see the good this community can do! Keep going on furries! Do what you gotta do to make you and the world happy!
