Today was the day I had my first child.
Nothing went right, it was wild.
This morning I thought, I had 'til next morn.
Today was the day my son was born.
Every NHS staff member was fab.
One man in a room, soon to be a dad.
Scared and alone while his love moans.
From his anxiety he is overthrown.
Two recovery nurses, happy to chat.
One dad...happy an' that.
Next thing he knows his baby is there.
Those lovely nurses, so kind and fair.
Mum was perfect, her power is loud.
There is no-one else, ever so proud.
The weather was dull and overtly mild.
Today was the day I had my first child.
