The angst in Macaque’s deal with the Lady Bone Demon is something cool to dwell in and I do, but if I zoom out from all the feelings involved, these two turn into a comedy duo by which I am very entertained; they were on some Tom and Jerry shit

LBD came to Mcq with four layers of well substantiated assumptions about him: that he 1) has as much disdain for humanity as her, and if not that at least 2) he has more disdain for Wukong than affinity for humanity, and if not that at least 3) he values his guaranteed self-preservation more than he has affinity for humanity, and if not that at least 4) he appreciates when he has a gun to the head.

The moment Mcq steps foot among the living he tosses the key, already striking 1 & 2 out so she rubs his nose on his shit to try and put the fear of god into the guy and when he keeps being a weasel she says ‘alright’ and almost goes through with pulverizing his skull. That makes him go ‘NO NO NO PLEASE I’LL DO ANYTHING’ which convinces her to just plant a time bomb on him instead, which in turn has him immediately beelining into betraying her AGAIN, and IT WORKS this time

What Rube Goldberg goofiness. And he just flies in with his ex’s mentee too, both of which were pummeling him like three episodes ago. Now he's got them pummeling her with him. Concave sink X wet soap kinda dynamic. It all tickles me a bit hahaha.

my favorite part about their dynamic is that lbd has been shown throughout the series to be pretty reserved in her emotions. she typically was either calm and expressionless, or prideful and gleeful. there was only a handful of times when she's been seen sliightly irritated at SQ or her goons, but it was a split second reaction that didn't develop into a more serious emotion.

with macaque? as far as i can recall, it was the only time we've seen her straight up angry, other than the finale. (where she was being stripped off everything she's worked for!) and knowing that, he (the one she's angry at. the one who betrayed her the very moment she fulfilled her end of the bargain) goes into their meeting with a basically "heeyyyy lbd, my old pal, how've you been? ^-^" and lbd?? somehow?? lets him get away with this??

and then, when he betrays her a second time, when he goes to see her when she has not one, but two means of eradicating him on a whim, he hits her with another "heyyy lbd, my old pal, how've you been? ^-^" Peak dynamic. yeah, yeah, angst and stuff, but let us not forget that he was a little shit to her face twice despite the fact that macaque was scared shitless of her

Honestly very reasonable how much he pisses her off considering he’s consistently the biggest liability supposed to be on her side of the board. Also I mean he got away alive from the sheer gall of quipping at her but only because she needed him alive LOL she realized an implicit threat was not enough to make him understand his situation and emphatically corrected that hahaha… but yes thank you for reminding me, one mustn't forget that he was not in fact chill about it. He was a weasel but a terrified weasel

#every time i start thinking about them too hard it all goes back to being funny #their relationship even without macaque's antics is pretty funny as you've mentioned #but mcq in addition to that also acting chill as fuck around her when he very much is not elevates the comedic factor to me
