I’m gonna put some examples in here, but you by no means have to use those.
1. The child hates having their picture taken, and one of their older relatives (aunt/uncle/etc) isn’t happy with that and threatens to spank the child. Needless to say, the parent isn’t very happy about this.
2. Child stealing parent’s clothes.
3. Parent stealing child’s clothes. Ex. “That’s mine!’ “Oh, I thought it was mine.” “ I literally wore that in my school picture.”
4. Baking family recipes together.
5. Parent noticing that child has something in common with their grandparent/great-grandparent. Ex. I like lemon drop candies and gardening, just like my great-grandma.
6. “You know I’m immune to the puppy dog eyes.”
7. Obligatory embarrassing them with baby pictures. Or even better crying as they go through baby stuff, much to the child’s embarrassment.
8. “Call me when you get there.” “I will.” “And make sure to tell them when you need to leave by.” “I will.” “Oh, and text me before you leave.” “I will.” “And-” “Bye, Parent!”
9. Parent being sick/ in the hospital. this can change depending on how old the character is. (Young) Cuddles and crying might be an appropriate reaction. (Older) “Great. You, (other relative), is the universe just trying to kill this family or something?”
10. Smol child pushing their way onto their parent’s laps
11. Parent catching child eating peanut butter out of the jar (or like my sousing, butter by the stick. Or like me, cream cheese.)
12. Parent has to deal with the fallout of bullies making fun of their kid since their birth parents (died/didn’t want them/ whatever crap you want the bullies to say).
13. Despite people thinking it’s weird since they aren’t related by blood (especially in the case of the parental figure) the parent and child will cuddle like they were.
14. “Shit, hey, kid. Uh, what’s- what’s wrong?”
15. “Sh, it’s okay. It’s okay, A. I’m not leaving you. I’m never going to leave you.”
16. Just...letting the child lean against them. Just enjoying being close to their kid and knowing that they’re safe.
17. “You’re not even my real parent! Why the hell do you care?!”
18. “Here.” “What are these?” “Adoption papers.”
19. Parent being hard on their child because they just want them to have a better life. But motives still doesn’t excuse they way they’ve ignored their kids mental health until they have a breakdown.
