any ordinary person would be unnerved by this, yet the parasite within finds it oddly comforting. familiar. a display of strange intimacy. to show weakness to the enemy turned ally and offer up your own blood to another. it's a form of asking for forgiveness, for the sins he'd committed earlier that day. if he had known then what he knew now, he might've acted differently. might've listened to the gospel that mendez had tried to teach him. but he's here now to amend for his ways.
his feet shift to accommodate for the extra weight now coiled around him, gaze unwavering as he listens. it's only when he finishes talking that crimson eyes drift south to his lips, where fingers linger and brush against, before they lower to hold and support the other. there's not a thought in his head to move, to try to get away. he's quite content where is he. ❝ probably should've listened to you. ❞ he's here now though. he's seen the promised fruit of surrender. ❝ will you take my confession? ❞
"Yes." Mendez hums, then allows the sound to reverberate through his chest in a raspy purr. He was pleased for now, sated by the small sacrifice of blood gifted to him willingly. He'd undoubtedly would crave for more later, when the parasite yearned for more resources to build him a new lower body.
"Divulge all of your sins, there are many that wish to listen to you repent, those that you have also dealt great harm to."
He could feel it like a swarm of cicadas, the high-pitched squealing of those whose holy body was exposed to an unworthy world and the hushed tones of the flock that had managed to escape with far lesser injury. Privacy was a foreign concept to the collective hivemind as ganados tuned in to this morbidly intimate moment.
In the meantime, insectoid limbs idly shifted and pressed upon Leon's body, some in sensitive areas while others dared to shuffle inside the assimilated agent's cloak.

Mendez had been wondering what was keeping Luis to make the boy late to the lessons he held just as dearly as the other children of the village. With little else to do about the issue, he'd been preparing to move on with the lesson until said missing child came barreling through the doors towards him with a package in hand. Speak of the devil and he shall appear before you it would seem...
"Llegas tarde, cariño!" Mendez chastises gently before taking the wrapped goods from Luis's small hands. He sets the wrapped sausages aside, out of reach of curious children before settling himself down onto a chair he'd pulled up with a groan.
He listened intently to Luis as he told another tale of grandeur from the perspective of a young boy just beginning to make his own in the world, quietly gesturing some of the kids to quiet down when they started to fuss.
"And just like the great Don Quixote, you shook off that mean rooster eh, Luis? I'm proud of you, pequeñín" He shook his head at the barrage of questions Luis bombarded him with, his chest shaking lightly with a restrained chuckle.
"Ah, it was not the pinecone that rooster was afraid of." He corrects, though not wanting to dispel the boy's theory entirely. "It is you that scared it away. Your bravery combined with that pinecone was too much for it to handle, and so it ran off."
Leaning forwards, Mendez reached out and around Luis to press a hand to his back and guide him on his way to sit down with the others. "Come, let us begin our lesson. Perhaps you can regale us with more of Don Quixote's adventures afterwards."
Thinking about Mendez helping the villagers whose heads have burst from severe trauma (likely from Leon shooting them smh), exposing the vulnerable parasite within their bodies. Or even without bursting, still suffering great wounds from other sources.
He'd tend to their wounds with lots of gauze (like the Bella sisters) or tie a sack over their heads so the writhing, delicate bits of the plagas don't become exposed to the light and they can keep a semblance of their former head structure in place to eat. (Dr. Salvador)
Missed out on making a post on Mother's Day so I will talk about my boy's mums here.
Jack's relationship to his own mother growing up had been fairly neutral if a bit distant. He just couldn't connect with her like he could his dad on certain things. It also didn't help that he struggled to grasp women and how their minds worked as well as the sexist ideals pressing in on him on all sides as a young man. I do think he still loved her though, but that relationship along with the rest of his family ended the moment he faked his death. Jack never gets in touch with his family again and as far as they know, he is dead to the world with an empty grave for them to visit.
Ramon had an extremely hands off/distant relationship to his mother. practically raised by the hands of chambermaids and other staff, he doesn't resent her nearly as much as he does his father. He just wishes that she had been present more and shared with him the love he was completely withheld from as a child due to being born congenitally weak.
Mendez is the most normal on this list in terms of mutual love and care between him and his late mother. in her last years of life, he'd been dutiful in caring for her after the passing of his father. Once she was gone, she remains a fond staple in his memories even after his assimilation with the plagas.

One more “🥺” and you’re getting bent over
Men who made war had more moments like this than most of them liked to admit. It would be cheesy and unwelcome to say that there's no shame in a cry once in a while, so he won't. But he does know he's been here before, in dark moments of his own, and doesn't feel the slightest judgement towards Jack. His undershirt is a little wet, but Piers will deal with it later.
He does gently reach out and take Jack's hand, though. Well, take him by the wrist. He knows that action even without having seen Jack do it before, because it's such a sincere reflex, and so reflective of what he's done himself late at night. Looking for a weapon the way a kid looks for a comfort. He just wants to let the bigger man know it's not necessary - he's safe, and whatever he's reaching for won't make him safer.
It takes a few minutes before the tension starts to slip away, the activity of the scene having finally relapsed into the quiet of the night. And still, Piers has not said anything. That trend continues until he feels that, whatever is between them, it's no longer a barrier and he can say what he feels will help.
"I've got you."
That's all. So there's no risk of overdoing it on the words. So there's no misunderstandings nor fear of emasculation. A solid certainty instead, that he'll be here however long it takes. And then some.
"You good? Squeeze me if you're good."
Jack takes a moment to adjust and not flip out on Piers for grabbing him like that. He leaves his knife where it lays hidden and willingly turns away from it feeling calmed down enough not to resort to anything drastic.
He does remain a bit quieter than usual, letting Piers do the talking while he can't trust himself to speak without hearing his own voice crack again. This vulnerability was an abhorrence to his very nature, but it said a lot when he chooses to stay and not push away like he usually does. God forbid any part of that nightmare comes true and the other man disappears for good once he left his sight come morning.
He squeezes him tightly once to get the message across that he was better now. Not 100%, but stable nonetheless.
"Mm." He makes a low noise in his throat as if testing for a lump in his vocal cords and finding none, decides to do more than grunt in acknowledgement.
"I'm fine now. You can go back to sleep if you want to. Sorry for waking you up." His mind a mess, there was no way he was going to get anymore rest that night.

Feeling the prick of something distinctly sharp digging into his side only causes Krauser to whistle and hold onto H.U.N.K tighter for a moment. "You've got some bite to you; I like that in a man." Having not been completely human since assimilating with a dominant plaga in Spain, he had the tendency to be more reckless with the power he'd been granted.
"I'm afraid you're going to have to do a lot better than that if you want to drag me into hell with you!"
Deciding his next course of action, Krauser chooses to kick H.U.N.K away from himself while going for a slash somewhere distinctly non-fatal. he didn't want this to end too fast, not to discount the other man's skill in any way. He could take a significant amount of damage before he'd feel the need to up the stakes.
"I just want to see how the grim reaper works, up close and personal."
