Making some small improvements to an already great bird.
A comic based on the board game āAir, Land & Sea.ā
A sod-hopper toad with grass growing on it.
I donāt know how these characters came to me. I really like the one in the grass and the creepinā one.
another Mignola study
Who doesnāt love a skull drawn by Mike Mignola? Pretty obviously based on his style.
Iām going to have a baby soon, and I thought it might be good to make myself a reminder of the power of mindful awareness. So now this is hanging on our wall, and maybe Iāll be a little more patient than I otherwise would have been. Itās another quote from Alchemy, by Rory Sutherland.
Flatten your boxes, please!
Our apartmentās recycling dumpster overflows every week, thanks to residentsā unflattened boxes. Then people who want to get rid of their recycling put it in the trash š. We printed signs telling people not to put plastic bags in the recycling bins, and that seemed to help, so maybe this will have an impact, too!
Robert Cialdini wrote a book titled Influence, in which he breaks down the art of influence into six categories, shown here (I find the diagram helps me remember them better). They are:
reciprocity
consistency
liking
authority
social proof
scarcity
It turns out we are very vulnerable to influence from others, and we often don't engage our sense of reason very thoroughly at all in making decisions. Cialdini gives lots of practical advice in the book about how to guard against ācompliance practitionersā (salespeople) when they use these tactics to persuade you. Itās a good book!
I hear these guys can be dangerous, if a little slow-witted. big claws and a beautiful tail!
I read Alchemy by Rory Sutherland. It led to some surprising places.
