I (Mod Loop) thought it would be appropriate to make an aspec headcanons post focused on Odile and Loop for this blog so! Here it goes! Please mind that these are entirely my personal headcanons, and Mod Dile has her own perspectives that align differently.
While Loop is canonically asexual, we don't get any indication of their experiences around this, since they are ace by extension of Siffrin being ace, who has their own set of indicators as to what this entails for him.
But I'm not gonna linger too long on my personal in-depth reading on Siffrin here because I don't want to derail from Loop, and enjoy the concept of them having a different experience of asexuality (and interaction with romance) from him.
And I personally like to think of Loop as sex ambivalent. They can have periods of being entirely sex repulsed, favorable, or neutral that can go on for weeks, months, or years at a time. They still have certain boundaries when favorable and their neutrality often manifests as apathy - not willing to engage with sexual matters, but not quite repulsed.
Back when they had a human body, I imagine they were largely neutral leaning towards repulsed. They never quite figured out a way to engage with sex on terms they were comfortable with, nor had they have much of an opportunity to.
They generally have a lot of conflicting feelings about their body, but they prefer(?) their current anatomical arrangement when it comes to sex specifically. Better to have sensual interaction with their null spot than dealing with more conventional genitalia.
(I also have some tangential thoughts about the stussy, but my default headcanons for Loop's anatomy go into a different direction with their chest star.)
Complex relationship towards sex acts aside - Loop never experiences sexual attraction. Their choice of partner primarily depends just on who they like to personally spend time with and aligning preferences.
I think whereas Siffrin sorta reads as arospec with potential romantic interests, Loop has ended up somewhat romance repulsed.
Their emotional priorities have simply shifted away from romance completely and I think they feel there are potentially some unpleasant expectations on them along the lines of "they are Siffrin and of course Siffrin is expected to reciprocate Isabeau's attraction so of course they also have to have some interest".
And ultimately? I can see this contributing to them being drawn towards Odile in particular. There aren't any grand expectations to this dynamic and of course, Odile has her own unconventional relationship to romance.
Objectively, I appreciate Odile being a presumably alloromantic character who doesn't prioritize romance in a narrative that doesn't prioritize romance and also contains actual aspec characters.
However, when I initially saw Odile's line about how "of course I've been in love before, it would be weirder if I didn't at my age", assuming it was a flaw of the narrative rather than a flaw of Odile's worldview, I latched onto the idea of her being unknowingly aromantic, and I'm still attached to that interpretation.
Her saying that line implies she grew up with amatonormative ideals and it would make a lot of sense for this perspective to clash with her being aroallo in weird ways. She mentions only having fallen in love for the first time in her 20s and that she hated the person she was attracted to - which to me reads more as her having sexual tension with someone, but lacking the perspective to differenciate between sexual and romantic attraction.
Additionally, her general aversion to touch would probably have a noteable impact on her relationships and preferences in general. I don't think Odile is neccessarily romance repulsed more than just utterly disinterested in romance, but I don't think she would enjoy engaging in most actions that are considered typically romantic.
While I imagine Odile would be considered allosexual, I think she'd be a stone (leaning towards being a stone top specifically). She doesn't enjoy having her genitalia touched by partners, typically prefers to stay clothed to some degree during sexual acts, and mostly gets a lot out of drawing reactions out of her partners.
As a result of all this, sexual acts between her and Loop will often seem. "tame", by conventional standards. There would be little worry about expectations and boundaries between these two in particular, and I can see them ending up finding a lot of appeal in roleplay and kink over just sticking to typical physical action.
