society's obsession with "best friends" is rooted in something insidious, but i'm not sure what exactly, probably amatonormativity tho.

i'll explain although i'm sure i'm not the first to say this: people are always pushed to have and value one romantic partner over everyone else, but a best friend is seen as the next best thing. if you dont have a romantic partner, your best friend is expected to be the most important thing to you and if you don't have one, you are made to feel incomplete and/or lonely because you don't have that one person who just gets you and who you're totally comfortable with (sound familiar?)

many people might even be forced to choose a friend to be their best over other close friends, or be made to feel guilty if they have more than one best friend because it's expected that you have a hierarchy in your friend group which can also lead to people feeling alienated and left out being the third wheel in a group of best friends. there is also a surprising amount of jealousy that comes with best-friendshipdom which is extremely toxic although rarely discussed (i expect due in part to society's idea that only romantic relationships can be toxic and friendships aren't as important so you could just leave)

it's like we as a society can't wrap our heads around the idea that things, even as mundane as favourite films and songs and colours still have value even if there are also others you like, but anyway it's late and i need to sleep but if anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them this has been an incoherent rant with barely considered points held together with water vapour

Well Adobe is retiring flash in 2020 (rip) and this dude BlueMaxima has created a project to save online flash/shock/java/etc games and animation though a launcher software. HERE

The story of Balto is interesting. He led a team of sled dogs across the Alaskan wilderness in the dead of winter with diphtheria antitoxins to stop an outbreak in Nenana Alaska. Diphtheria is a deadly infectious disease that could wipe out a third of a town’s population. It is mostly unknown to the public today because of vaccines. Balto’s body is preserved in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

what s shocking is that this seungri/jung joonyoung & other male celebs situation was revealed by accident so no male celeb had any conscience as to reveal the awful things they did and we would’ve lived not knowing about the prostitution ring, the drugged and raped women, the illegal videos, the police bribery, how these male celebs talk about the female celebs. tbh i hope a lot of heads will fall for this and i hope they fall for good…these men…are they even human, really
