A/N - THANK YOU FOR WAITING I SWEAR TO GOD I AM THE WORST FANFIC WRITER. I wasn't sure if you wanted the reader to be Beatrix's ex, so I just included it in the headcanon anyway!!!
Her "death" tore you apart and you latched yourself onto O-Ren Ishii to fill in the void. A year later, you two are engaged.
O-Ren isn't a bad fiancée, just emotionally reserved and you know how she is. You knew what you were getting into and you accepted the risks. So with that, she still protects you and is good at separating the criminal underworld from you when things get too overwhelming. But the idea of you getting hurt lingers in O-Ren's mind.
Just like how Beatrix Kiddo still lingers in your mind.
Beatrix found it easy to track down O-Ren, so when she find out through research and first-hand connections that you were set to marry the queen of Tokyo's underworld, a piece of Beatrix's heart was ripped out.
Four years in a coma, her child is gone and you're engaged to O-Ren Ishii? This makes her more determined and angry.
She doesn't have your name written in her Death List Five, but her need to seek you out is a loose end that desperately needs tying.
When she suddenly shows up at the House of Blue Leaves, with Sofie Fatale used as leverage, you are met face-to-face with her on the top floor standing by O-Ren's side.
O-Ren tells you step back and find somewhere to hide and Beatrix watches you as you obey her order. It breaks her heart and at the same time, angers her.
Beatrix wonders if you are scared of her after witnessing what she has done to Sofie, Gogo and the Crazy 88s. She'd find it amusing if you didn't, but she expected you not to. Why?
Because there was no way Beatrix was going to kill you. She wouldn't want to kill you because you were romantically and emotionally committed to O-Ren. This was all to do with the squad and Bill.
When she does find you later on, you are horrified and saddened that Beatrix had defeated your fiancée. Beatrix is not letting you leave until she got her answers - not just about Bill and the locations and statuses of the squad, but about you and you and her.
She wonders why you moved on and to O-Ren out of all people, the first person on her Death List Five.
Whatever the answer was, Beatrix needed to hear it from you - and she can't help but see the number of carats on your ring still on your finger.
"I was supposed to be married, too, you know."
It's not an easy conversation (or rather, interrogation), of course.
You do, however, acknowledge that Beatrix is still in love with you.
You acknowledge that if Bill hadn't sent the squad to start that Two Pines massacre in that chapel, she would have wanted you to be a co-parent to her little girl.
Your now-deceased fiancée is dead and Beatrix is strategic and wise about her decisions with you.
Beatrix spares your life, but you're left to deal with the aftermath - and no, Beatrix wasn't gonna string you along with her nor was she was going to come look for you again. There's no coming back. Beatrix can't make you come back to her... and she's fine with that. She has to complete her list.
What kills you is that you know her daughter is alive. The reason why you don't tell her this is unclear.
