i honestly enjoy how kaleidoscopic hux is in the star wars canon. like, to me his character is so WILDLY inconsistent through different sources and that’s not even counting the HUNDREDS of interpretations the fandom has of this lil guy. it’s just. he’s a master manipulator. he fell for a prank call AND a ‘your mom’ joke. he’s low-key a diva. he’s obsessed with EVERYTHING being up to regulation standards. he’s a slippery ‘secure your own survival first’ kinda guy. he’d sacrifice himself for the ideology that raised him. is he a sadist? is he a pragmatist? he’s a snarky bastard that can roast your entire BLOODLINE with a look. he wouldn’t know humor if it hit him in the face. terrifyingly competent? adorably pathetic? UGH THE VARIETY
it’s like choosing which kind of sprinkles you wanna have with the ‘ur fave fictional war criminal’ sundae AND I AM SO HERE FOR IT <3
I stand by this.
Couldn't have said it better (not big surprise)
omg i JUST saw the tags and RAN to do this😭
Is there a discord server themed around Hux? If not— y'all, please make one. I'm gonna go insane I literally have no one to talk to about this pathetic loser wet cat of a man (a cry for help)
Anyway heres another WIP 🫶🤎
okayokay. so. i’ve been thinking about how Hux is — at his core — a really creative person. pls correct me if i’m wrong, but it was mentioned that the guy came up with most of the First Order tech. you HAVE to have some sort of creative vision for that kind of stuff.
the thing is, i think that as with pretty much all that Hux does in life (treason not included lol), his creativity is also very much regulation-adherent. and that leads me to believe that he has to consciously suppress at least some of it, when he gets the urge to design something not out of practical necessity, but just because he got the inspiration zoomies at 4 am.
and bear with me here, but i hc that because of him ruthlessly suppressing most that inspiration, it finds a different way out — through his dreams. (and that also ties into why he’s always working late and overtime. like. look at the guy. he’s running on stims and 1.5 hours of sleep per cycle, it’s practically canon.)
Hux’s dreams are a canopy of vivid colors, convoluted scenarios and that particular brand of insane surrealism that only makes sense to you when you’re asleep. and tbh? he loathes them — because they are something both his and out of his control, because they force him to see and feel too much, because they whisper things that his conscious mind finds treasonous and weak — and wholly unbefitting a General of the First Order.
Hux 20 years after TROS
A wild Hux appears! Why he’s so extra omg! XD
actually, it works.

domhnall gleeson is literally 6′1″ why the flip is everyone saying general hux is small
General Hux is a noodle and I will fight anyone who tries to convince me otherwise
In all seriousness, Adam Driver is 6'3" so there’s at least 2 inches of height difference between him and Gleeson (probably more once you take into account the effects of Driver’s mask and costume). If we’re going with the assumption that the characters are built like their respective actors, then Driver is also bigger in terms of muscle mass/body type. If they aren’t built like their respective actors, then Hux is a noodle because we have yet to be told otherwise
As a short person all the First Order are giants to me, but how big someone seems depends on more than just physical height. Ren is a lot wider across the chest for a start. But there’s also how they carry themselves and other charactisation details. Hux wears his coat over his shoulders and it makes him look like he’s trying to be bigger- like he doesn’t think he’s big enough. Ren doesn’t do that, Phasma doesn’t need to, they’re just there. He’s in charge of all these thousands of people but he’s still driven to prove himself. Like those 1980s drug lords with ridiculous brocaded uniforms.
He’s commanding officer, but here’s this guy who fills the room with force power and muscles, and he’s constantly undermining him. Hux can only puff up so far in response.
Listen to the Big Speech with your eyes shut- that’s not the voice of a great hulking rottweiler, that’s a chihuahua yapping at the universe. The voice is a choice as much as costuming and carriage. That’s a guy with something to prove.
The General in his Finaliser is basically a underconfident CEO in an Overfinch.
theyre aboutta drop their new album
Driving in my speeder right after a spotchka
I like to think that ‘Somehow Palpatine returned’ is exactly what Hux wrote because what else was he supposed to say?
