People think this is just a joke but Alan Turing was the inventor of the computer and his sexuality was illegal in his time (which was not even 100 years ago) and he was arrested. They put him on drugs that destroyed his genius brain and committed suicide a year after being covicted. He was gay and a war hero as well. He helped to break enigma which was a German code that they put all their messages through. He shorted WWII by two years and saved so many lives in the process.

I thought maybe this was just a single piece of poorly drawn art, but guess what!

Gaud’s right. She puts on the headband and her ears disappear.

She does HAVE them:

It’s just her normal hairstyle falls down over them.

But once she’s got a full updo, they vanish.

What the fuck.

Her hairstyle seems like it’s a take on the victory roll, which is appropriate to the time period the movie came out (also, unfriendly reminder she was a redhead in a white dress, not a blonde in a blue one).

But the victory roll emphatically does not cover the ears.

And while headpieces similar to this that covered the ears DID exist and were at one point fashionable…

They were from the 1400s-1500s. (This is, obviously, a modern recreation. DuckDuckGo is being a butt and I can’t find appropriate era-correct portraits.)

Cinderella is set in the 1870s, insofar as it has any specific time period, and when its costuming is anachronistic (which is often), it’s almost entirely drawn from the late 40s, the time period when the movie was being worked on. Not to mention the ballgowns are like….the one thing that is 99% CORRECT. (Yes, even the fact that Cinderella’s is glittery. We have many examples of shiny gowns from this time period, and early glitters in the form of glass, beetle wings, and beads were already known.) So the idea that they’d randomly slap a Middle Ages headdress on there is…

I don’t buy it, is what I’m saying.
