A sketch a day for a whole month of December - this is how I said goodbye to 2024. It was a busy time - working retail, landlord problems, visiting home for Xmas, getting sick - it had it all. But I managed to squeeze in some sketchbook time every day. Feels good, man.

Some of these took me a little more than a day, some less than 5 minutes. If you're curious about the details I'll put them under the cut:

#1 I entered December high on Arcane.

#2-5 For these sketches I used two Tessa Violet's music videos for reference (Crush and Bad Ideas). She's so funky.

#6 My beloved Deep Space Nine character, Elim Garak. Unfortunately I made him too thin, so now I will pretend it was all on purpose and that this is young Garak in his early Obsidian Order days.

#7 Victor, my cinnamon roll (still high on Arcane). A sketch of Kirk's Enterprise I made for a bigger piece. Some hands (never enought of those).

#8 Something to celebrate 10th anniversary of Korrasami becoming canon. A very important occasion for me, personally. The sketch was lovely, unfortunately a few days later I went all in and murdered it.

#9 Airport doodles.

#10 I'm watching Star Trek TOS now. Spock's hands are really fun to draw.

#11 Felt a little better, went for a walk in a forest and took some reference photos. It's tree drawing time now and it will continue well into January I think.

Also, if you were ever wondering, Hahnemühle 100% cotton watercolour sketchbook doesn't do well with masking tape and masking fluid. The paper is perfect for mixed media sketches - it has a subtle texture and it doesn't buckle too much, but if you're looking for something a bit more sturdy for more elaborate pieces I would look elsewhere.

Cas furrows his brow and tilts his head. "My name is not Jack."

Dean resists the urge to roll his eyes and purses his lips. "Titanic? The movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. I made you watch it, remember?"

The way Cas's lips form an O shape is too damn cute. "With the spinning and boat capsizing. 'I'm the king of the world!'"

With a soft laugh, Dean simply says, "I love you," and turns over to go to sleep.
