10 Tips on Publishing Scams
1. This is the first and only rule of publishing you should remember: The money flows to the author. 2. An agent who isn’t sending out your manuscript and/or won’t share who they’ve sent it out to isn’t a real agent. No agent is better than a scam/fake agent. 3. Anyone who offers to self-publish a book for you is a scam. It’s SO easy to do for yourself. Literally google “how to self-publish a book” and you’ll see how to do it. Fifteen minutes. If you can’t figure it out, get a teenager to help you. 4. You don’t PAY legitimate publishers to publish your book for you. They pay you. Refer to #1. 5. If you want to self-publish BETTER, you can pay a cover artist or an editor (or several) to help make you book better. You don’t pay for self-publishing. Not anymore, in my opinion. 6. An editor isn’t going to “fix” your book. That’s not what editors do. They make all the problems of your book more obvious so you can fix it yourself. 7. Don’t pay to get your poem/short story included in an anthology. There won’t be any big names in it (no matter what they tell you). Big name authors get paid to have their stories in anthologies. 8. Don’t pay an agent or editor to read your manuscript in hopes of getting representation. That’s not how it works. Reading fees aren’t part of the legitimate submission process. (The one exception here is at conferences, you often pay for a consult with an agent. This is legitimate.) 9. If you send out a manuscript and you get a response back from someone who offers to help you publish it, be very, very wary. You’ve just ended up with a book doctor, and that can be all kinds of skeevy. 10. Before you sign with an agent, make sure that they actually have other clients and that they’ve sold books. Like, they’re not a newbie in the business and aren’t just doing this on a lark.
Not sure, always check Writer’s Beware! The co-founder regularly posts updates and news on her twitter as well:

(Also as an aside on point 10, signing with a new agent who hasn’t sold any books is not necessarily a red flag! It’s when they have no experience in publishing that you should be wary about. New agents pop up all the time and can be a boon to your career, but be sure to dig into their work history.)
The idea that housecats are baby-talking at humans when they meow is based on a misunderstanding.
Yes, it’s true that, amongst themselves, adult housecats generally only vocalise to communicate with kittens, but the particular set of vocalisations that adult cats use to communicate with humans is distinct from, and largely non-overlapping with, the set of vocalisations that they use to communicate with kittens.
Your average adult housecat has anywhere from twenty to fifty distinct vocalisations that are basically only used to communicate with humans.
Cats meowing at humans is less baby-talk and more your cat learning a whole second language.
Can confirm. Between themselves, cats usually use body language which is very subtle. Meowing is very unsubtle—- it’s obnoxious, in the cat world. It attracts far too much attention, which isn’t ideal for small predators.
but they know that we don’t get their body language, so they meow instead.
it’s more akin to cats learning a second language which is comprised of yelling.
So it’s like they are learning German
Even cooler, it’s basically a secret code between cat and owner. Studies were conducted where owners would listen to recordings of cats vocalizations and try to determine what the meow meant. Owners could identify what their own cat wanted (food, attention, help) based on the meow they heard, but couldn’t for other cats.
Your cats aren’t just learning a new language, they straight up invent a secret code that only you understand.

Say it with me folks:
“Eat the rich” means 1%ers and billionaires
middle class is closer to poverty than being a multimillionaire
“The rich” does NOT include children of billionaires (come on we’re at least slightly better than the plagues of Egypt)
Upper middle class children SHOULD NOT feel guilt over having money
Being aware of privilege and using your privilege to help others IS NOT a guilt trip
Constantly feeling guilty helps no one
Billionaires, however, should feel guilty over hoarding wealth.
Upper middle class is NOT rich

My uncle was one of the top surgeons in the country. He was upper middle class definitely. When he got cancer, his insurance didn’t cover all the treatments he would need and after 5 years he drained his savings on cancer treatments (while still working most of that time) and eventually died because he couldn’t afford the expensive treatments that might have saved him.
If you are upper middle class and you get sick, it will likely bankrupt your family. It’s fucked.
For all of the idiots in the notes ^
Honest to god - even if you make 6 figures a year? you're closer to poverty than true wealth. Check your shit and remember who your real allies and enemies are guys.
A 6 figure income is a lot right? That’s say: 223,000 dollars a year Which is 112 dollars an hour. Most people would consider that upper middle class. That’s enough money to have a nice house, go on fun vacations. That’s slight more than the average doctor makes.
223,000 dollars is what Jeff Bezo makes in a minute

Hey i’m a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. I’ve compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. I’ll be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources
