“Do you ever think this world could have been better if the war had gone differently?” Her question was quiet, just in case anyone heard her but it was sincere. Even though most people would think Mika liked the way things were, given her station, she really didn’t. She saw the injustices and atrocities committed by their respective governments and knew that, even if she tried, there be nothing she could do to stop it. “I mean, any kind of world has to be better than this right?”

Charlotte was caught off guard by the question. Of course she did. She’d joined the resistance to change things, and with every film she watched she became more and more certain she could change things. But she couldn’t say that out loud. Instead she just side-eyed Mika and shrugged, “Sure, doesn’t everyone? This world isn’t perfect, no matter how many times they tell us it is.”
