Simon Pegg implied that director J.J. Abrams might've gone in a different direction with Rey's parentage. But should her origins matter?
Y’know, the Last Jedi had a lot of flaws, but opening up the Force to everyone instead of just a few families was a good point to me.
Makes it all weirdly “Divine Right of Kings“-ish to me if it’s just restricted to a few families. It’d be if all scientists are directed related to the same four or five people, it’d be weird.
Personally I’m okay with Rey not being related to anyone super famous from the films or expanded universe…the only reason why it bugged me was that the previous film introduced the whole “Rey’s waiting for her parents to return” thing and then this one made a big deal about Rey wanting to know who they were…so the reveal of “Oh they were just two drunks who sold her for booze money” feels…kind of anti-climatic to me…
I honestly like the way her parentage turned out. Any big reveal that Mom and Dad are famous takes away from her accomplishments and destiny. It goes from being a character that is growing into her strength and turns it into “well obviously she’s doing well, look at her lineage”, like some sort of race horse. Also, the introduction of powerful, recognized characters puts her in the backseat. Suddenly Mom or Dad shows up and they are in the spotlight instead of the story being about her. Finally, it adds a bit of gravity to her. Nearly every foster kid and orphan out there dreams that their birth parents will swoop back in and bring them into a better life. It just doesn’t happen. Even the Daddy Warbucks fantasy fails here. She finds someone that can help, and he’s too damaged to do much good. Rey has earned every last achievement that she has.
That is fair enough <3
I think that we’d like there to be a story regarding Rey where her parents intended to come back and ‘rescue’ her, but were prevented somehow. That sounds better than ‘they were addicts who couldn’t afford her’. I once went through the probate records of the city I lived in for an archaeological project and one of the things I kept running into was parents who had fallen on hard times and who had too many children “selling” off their children to pay debts and the like. So, what Rey went through is very plausible, and I think it strengthens her story.
Flawless face -_-

honey is the only food product that never spoils. there are pots of honey that are over five thousand years old and still completely edible
i also want to point out we know it tastes the same even after thousands of years b/c archaeologists who discovered two thousand year old honey tasted it. presumably right after they looked at each other and went “what the hell here goes nothing”
I’m pretty sure they also identify human remains by taste. Archaeologists are straight up freaks.
No, no no… you identify bone from rock or other substances by touching it to your tongue. If it sticks, it’s bone. The taste itself has nothing to do with it. And most archaeologists won’t lick human bones if they know they’re human.
…and I realize that doesn’t actually do much to prove archaeologists aren’t freaks.
mai nam is jane and wen i dig i fynde some roks both smol and big i put my tung upon the stone for science yes i lik the bone
Sometimes they just put a small shard in their mouth to clean it only to reveal it’s poop.
@thefingerfuckingfemalefury
Reblogging both for Archeologists Being Weirdoes and the Lik the Bone poem :D
Paleontologists are just as bad...
Claudia Black
@cblgblog @thefingerfuckingfemalefury and thus my attraction type was born from this show.
:D
We have this in common <3
Also, her voice gives me Very Gay Feelings <3
Ah, Morrigan :-)
wlw tumblr why are demons hot
we’ve been exposed to queercoded villains since childhood, causing us to associate strongly with villainous and evil women; furthermore, because we fear we are being predatory towards women we are afraid of approaching girls and thus the concept of an aggressive woman is attractive because we don’t have to start the relationship
also they have big titties
Plus horns and a tail = HOT
Ah, that explains why one of my characters is a succubus…but awkward and has difficulty with the whole sex/relationship thing.
We have been raised to be Hella Gay For Demons :D
But mine isn’t a villain...she’s a hero...though coded as autistic.

This morning you’re going to see a lot of click bait sites claiming that Psylocke is in Deadpool 2 based on the new trailer, when that is completely false. The identity of the new purple/pink…
The identity of the new purple/pink haired mutant in the trailer is Yoiki (played by Shiori Kutsuna). And Yoiki is Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend from the Xavier mansion.
Yoiki is in the movie a lot, pretty much whenever you see Negasonic, and they do have a big action scene late in the movie where the two go with Colossus after a famous X-Men villain.
She annoys Deadpool because every time she sees him she says “Hi Wade!” in a cute voice. She and Negasonic also kick off the post-credit scenes by fixing something together. So, she’s in the movie quite a bit, is Negasonic’s girlfriend, and is absolutely not Psylocke.

I am SOOOOO glad that you were right :D
I’m hoping that they make this absolutely clear in the movie...make up for not letting Deadpool have a boyfriend (but then again, if we get to see more of Morena Baccarin :-)

That Sudden Realization
We are in a trading town and our cleric, as is his custom, goes to buy an unreasonable amount of cheese to supplement our rations.
Cleric OOC: “Do I see any cheese vendors in the market?”
DM: “You do. He is a human male with a beard.”
Cleric: “Greetings. I am looking to buy some cheese.”
Vendor: “What kind?”
Cleric: “What kind do you have?”
Vendor: “I’ve got cow, goat, and centaur cheese.”
Cleric: “Centaur cheese?”
Vendor: “Alrighty then, how many pounds of centaur cheese would you like.”
Party is screaming in the background
Cleric: “Well. I guess I’ll buy 30 lbs.”
Party has gone ballistic.
FOUR SESSIONS LATER
Party is fighting some cockroach men. We are probably in the middle of combat when the fighter just screams.
DM: “What’s wrong?”
Fighter: “CENTAUR CHEESE! WHAT SET OF TITS DOES THE MILK COME FROM!”
All was quiet and the cleric just wore a face that said, “What have I done?” We had to take a 20 minute break right then.
I was expecting a Monty Python reference here.
Mint is a weird flavour, how can something taste like cold?
Menthol, a chemical found in mint leaves, activates the same ion-channel protein in your nerves as a drop in temperature, causing the same sensation.
Nerd.
I think you mean cool as fuck
Yezsss
Capsaicin does the same for the receptors for a rise in temperature, thus why peppers taste “hot”.
Bonus fact, capsaicin also impacts the nerves which cause pain, and it was being researched for a whole new class of pain killers.
