I’m seeing some LGBT+ blogs posting things against police going to Pride, and to that I say-

It is very important that you consider this; NOT ALL POLICE OFFICERS ARE BAD. By generalizing any community or profession you are doing the same thing they did to you. Preach kindness for ALL. By generalizing against police, you are doing the same thing as those Christian conservatives did by saying gays were going to hell.

YES, POLICE BRUTALITY EXISTS, AND IS AN UNFORGIVABLE PROBLEM. BUT BY SAYING THAT THE POLICE THAT ARE GOOD PEOPLE, DOING THEIR JOBS TO KEEP YOU SAFE, CAN’T GO EITHER? IT’S ALSO UNFORGIVABLE.

You invalidate your own words if you say things like ‘be kind’ if you are applying it selectively. End of story.

BE KIND. DON’T JUST SAY IT.

I’m tired of asking myself so i’ll ask you—

Do you think I have ADHD? Yes, I understand you are not doctors (probably) and cannot provide me with a diagnosis, and I will take all replies with 3.8 grains of salt, but I want to know how likely people think it is. My symptoms; (all of these I’ve had my whole life as far as I can remember)

Constantly moving. My family is always telling me to stop bouncing my leg, and when I tell them I can’t they’re just like ‘yes you can just stop’. Also as soon as I stop actively concentrating on not moving I start again.

Very verbally impulsive. I blurt out questions and answers, and have always been really loud. Like when I was little my mom would ask the doctor if my hearing was okay and they’d be like ‘‘yep’’ and she’d say “but are you sure?”

I also have trouble extrapolating instructions. Like my family would tell me to empty the dishwasher but it wouldn’t occur to me to fill it as well. (I’ve gotten better at things like that but still)

I daydream all the time. I could be staring at a math question for half an hour thinking about one doctor who episode I saw like two years ago and just not notice. Even when people are talking to me I can just zone out.

Am constantly searching for stimulation. I’ll make noises. I’ll scroll through Pinterest for two hours. I’ll tap my fingers, bounce my leg. I am reluctant to start tasks that will require any effort whatsoever, including; laundry, writing, schoolwork, etc. even though I love to write I just stare at the word document and am like, ‘rrgh, maybe later.’ I do not recall ever hyperfocusing on anything. I mean, I get absorbed in projects and will forget I need to eat, pee, etc. but usually it doesn’t last very long and happens rarely.

I also don’t have much trouble doing tasks my family has told me to do, like dishwasher, etc. it’s only really when they haven’t just directly told me to do something that I have trouble.

There are probably more I’m forgetting, but that’s what I can think of at the moment. Tell me what you think.

And so APPARENTLY I’ve been sort of accidentally self-medicating with coffee?

My brain just sort of connected the dots this morning and wondered if my daily morning raid of the coffee beans in the grinder had anything to do with adhd.

So to google I go, and it does! Caffeine raises dopamine levels in the brain, and can make the amount of dopamine in adhd people around the same as in neurotypical people. Also I usually have it in the morning, which might explain why my symptoms tend to get worse in the afternoon, because the caffeine has worn off by then.

Not definitive evidence by any means, but it is a contributor.
