this week halifax police ran down a cyclist they believed had "stolen" food from a grocery store. they crashed their giant suv going the wrong way down a one-way street. cops are not worth the air they breathe.

i love using this thing as a little journal. let me tell you about this woman.

i gave her one of my pretty books because she complimented it the other day. i want to fall in love with her so bad. but falling in love with her would be so so bad. i dont even like her half the time because she can be so mean, so manipulative, bossy, disloyal. but then i see her and i just fall for her all over again. see what i mean? its just bad. so we stay friends and friends only. but like... friends smooch sometimes right?

I think that like. Look. I don't really want to get into an arugment about the ethics of violent action. But I will say that from a stance of pure messaging, going up against black bloc protestors gives law enforcement a chance to look cool and tough and macho. But trying to fight a bunch of guys in inflatable frog suits doing the cha-cha slide makes them look like fucking morons. Especially when they have to go on TV and act like the guys in frog suits are a national security threat. They look like little babies that are scared of sports mascots, and the longer they do it the more support they lose.

IMPORTANT NOTE: "Black bloc" is about being anonymous - about blending one into the other in such a way that it becomes hard to identify which "person dressed in all black" was the one to arrest. If all the Frogs look alike: That serves the same goal.

& a black bloc generally doesn't show up to make the cops look a certain way, or to make any kinds of statement in terms of optics.

A black bloc shows up to achieve a material thing. Blocking a fascist event, stopping a deportation, squatting a building, doing a sabotage, creating a space in which others anyone similarly dressed could potentially do those things.

A protest is a threat, a black block is a weapon.

while i hope the AI boom dies out i also hope we start acknowledging data center water overconsumption as it's own unique issue because like. it's not AI itself that harms the environment it's the hardware hosting it, right? same reason nfts and cryptocurrency were also bad for the environment. the root problem isn't going away so long as we allow big companies to continue hitching their wagon to the next big tech trend. i worry if they don't get stronger regulation we'll just be repeating the same issue whenever the next toy comes along.
