What do you do when you come to care for a person who only exists in liminal spaces. Who fades like the stars under the scrutiny of the sun and only lives in the darkness of unwatched places. Whose body is occupied with violence when it is not filled with love, and love is a luxury killers don’t deserve a taste of.

You run because he lets you go, and you’re smart enough to know his kindness is temporary. But you come back before you can leave at all, because your choice was made before you could even make it.

You’ve lost everything for him, but most of you doubts it will ever be worth it. He’s bleeding out on top of you, and you realize that love was never really an option. This isn’t how you want things to go, but there is no version where this doesn’t happen. You’ll never get another chance to escape, since now when he dies, you die with him.
