Been thinking a lot about wizards lately.
mordred/galahad enjoyers have i got a book for you!
companions in crimes…..
One of my first arthurian books! Also one of like... the only four books with galahad and mordred interacting :'D
Watch THE ADVENTURES OF SIR GALAHAD
GUYSS!! One of the first arthurian tv shows is on youtube (with Spanish subs, but the dub is in English). This is a cheesy adorable tv show about Galahad, with a lot of Mordred in it as well! Every episode is only about 20-15 minutes.
Please, go watch THE ADVENTURES OF SIR GALAHAD. This is adorable!!
Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 4 Episode 5 Episode 6 Episode 7 Episode 8 Episode 9 Episode 10 Episode 11 Episode 12 Episode 13 Episode 14 Episode 15
So this coming from personal experience after someone *ahem* op here *ahem* almost set a church altar on fire when she was little (not my proudest moments, it was an accident, but hey, ended up being the heathen of the family anyway), do you guys think it would be a reason as to why nobody lets Mordred in a church? Like “Ooohhhh boy, no, not him. He’s a danger to himself and this establishment” or something. Cue everyone being shocked when he hooks up hangs out with Galahad
Mordred pretending he did it on purpose
consider this: a comical duo made out of mordred and galahad in an eventful and historically incorrect search for the holy grail.
bonus : - mordred is mean, grumpy, and smol. - galahad is nice, happy and tol.
I would watch 76 hours of this.
My edit: OTPs in Arthurian Legends [2/?]: Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnelle- The Maiden’s Knight and the Loathy Lady
The Wedding of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnelle is an English poem written in the 15th century by an anonimous author (even if there’s the hypothesis that the author is Thomas Malory himself, because this poem was written in the same period of Le Mort d'Arthur). The poem begins with King Arthur threatened by a knight that he met in the magic forest of Inglewood. The knight, Gromer Somer Joure, said that he was going to kill King Arthur in a year, if he for that moment didn’t answer at his riddle, “What the women desire the most?”. King Arthur was in despar, until he met in a forest the ugliest woman that he ever saw, who said him that she had the answer at that riddle, but she was goingo to tell to him only at the condition that she would marry King Arthur’s nephew, sir Gawain. Arthur was reluctant, but Gawain accepted. So, the loathy lady, who was called dame Ragnelle, told him the answer: what women desired the most is sovereignty over themselves. When Gromer Somer Joure heard the answer from King Arthur, he became angry and cursed his sister Ragnelle. So, Arthur came to Camelot with Ragnelle, who wedded with Gawain, even if the court was unhappy for this marriage. But when came the moment of the wedding night, Gawain saw his wife transformed into a beautiful maiden, who said to him that she fell under a curse of her step-mother, but right now he could choose between having her beautiful in the night, but ugly in the day, or beautiful in the day, but ugly in the night. Gawain answered so:
“Alas!” said Gawain, “the choice is hard
Choosing the best is difficult.
I don’t know what to choose.
To have you beautiful
At night and no more,
That would grieve my heart.
And I would lose my reputation.
But if I choose to have you beautiful in the day,
Then at night I would have slim pickings.
Now, gladly would I choose the best,
But I don’t know what in the world to say.
Choose what you think best, happy lady.
The choice I put into your hand.
Do as you want, as you choose.
Untie me when you will, for I am bound.
I give the decision to you.
Body, possessions, heart and everything,
It is all yours, to buy and sell.
This I swear to God.” (translation by David Breeden)
So, Ragnelle said to him that he had broken the curse, because he had given to her what she wanted the most: the sovereignty upon herself. So they are happy, until she had to left him (the text didn’t say if she died or she was only gone away). But Gawain never loved another woman as he had loved dame Ragnelle. The poem has many interpretation, many seemed a connection with the trope of the loathy lady who appeared also in “Canterbury’s Tales”. This trope had also a connection with the Celtic mythology, where the “sovereignty of Ireland” appeared both with the appearence of a beautiful maiden and of an old ugly woman, as a trial that the hero had to face, for becaming king.
Immediately Unmatched Her 😤
She’s right tho
I’ve always been fond of the sapper tunnel. More a siege strategy than a weapon, but you get a bunch of local miners to dig under the walls, but the objective isn’t to tunnel into the castle, it’s to mine under the wall such that when everything is ready, you can burn/explode all of your wooden supports all at once and have the whole wall crumble into the tunnels you dug.
I’m a fan of both trebuchets AND sapper tunnels, TBH.
And if you can cut off their supplies, just starve ‘em out.
As Excalibur’s wilder you have the whole of Briton behind you, along with the magic of Avalon.
And if you have the scabbard you dont bleed so like in reality you could just take over the whole castle by yourself without destroying the castle at all...
Mini Land Spirit Shrine
use this as a conduit to connect you to the local spirits and nature
get a pot
fill it with local dirt/sand/clay
keep it on your porch/inside/near your house. somewhere you can visit it.
put cool natural items in it, like local shells, bones, branches, etc. that you’ve found…
watch it come to life. if i just leave a pot of dirt around, something will spring up in it. usually those considered “weeds”. if nothing grows, plant a low-maintenance native plant in it. but there should be something after a time.
make offerings like water and more natural items as you desire.
connect to it, talk to it, introduce yourself.
Rinse and repeat over time. That’s really it! and then you just… build a relationship as time goes on.
Prologue: The Birth of Merlin
This is part of a series of poems that tell the tale of King Arthur. Each of these poems have been written by myself and I hold the copyright to each one. Please do not repost/copy this work onto other blogs/sites.
There once was a princess of Wales called Niniane Fair and graceful was she Lips full and eyes of obsidian
Loved by her people but had she a secret On the eve of Beltane She was told she must keep it
A spirit did come with a message to her bed He whispered the Lady’s Creed between thighs that were spread
“Of this night A child ye shall born A son you will bear Though not yours I must warn
No, he is my Lady’s Do not mistake For he is needed you see to make way for the drake.
Yes, for the dragon, the golden child.” The Horned One foretold And then he smiled.
“On the night of Samhain you shall give birth And the child of my Lady shall walk on this Earth.
Your son’s purpose is simple: Ensure the worship of my Lady And peace for Her children, This is the Oath in which she bade me.
Your son’s first task is the King of Dread Two dragons will fight and shall cease only when one has bled.
The second task is the Lady of the Lake A sword he must gain to ease a land that aches.
The third to put the Golden Child on the throne Which he will do with the test of the Stone.
The Golden Child shall rule The Sky, the Earth and the Sea But for your son, oh no I see a witch, a cave and a tree.
Hush now my dear Of this you’ll be silent For if they know before he comes Things may get violent.
For men are arrogant And like me, are but beasts And you my dear princess will be though of in the least.
But remember, you are a Vessel My Lady’s Chosen You are the body that her magick does flow in.
Your son shall be mocked, They’ll say he’s a cambion But fear not for him princess, For he will pave the way for Albion
And when the Dread King Comes to take him away, I will come to you again, With the Lady and I, forever you’ll stay.”
And with that the Spirit was gone And into herself the princess was drawn.
Six months she must wait for her child to be born. Though, fearful she was that he would have hoof or horn.
Born was the boy on Samhain, indeed. A surprise for all, the warning she did heed.
Niniane worried for no reason at all He was beautiful No harm on him could befall.
Her father was angry, her brother was too The story she told but none believed it were true.
Though Niniane screamed, the babe her father took He thought to drown the boy by dropping him in the brook.
Drop the babe he did and waited for him to drown but the boy did not, he noted with a frown.
The King tried again And each time the boy did float The boy would not drown in river, lake or moat.
Finally, the King declared, the boy was a demon and he did swear to be rid of him by the end of the season.
So Niniane was given her son again Held close to her breast, she named him Merlin.
“For you are strong my magickal boy Though your father was Horned you do bring me joy.
You shall be a hawk A great, fearsome falcon Walk your path as you must to make way for the dragon.
Your father’s a beast A man like a stage, But a long cape of feathers shall be your worn flag.
Though I may never live to see the day When you are the predator and they the prey,
I beg you my son listen not to your heart Go not to the witch, I beg you be smart.
For I heard those words And I know what they meant For I know how women can be Already I’ve seen her intent.
Betray you she will For she is a witch Heartbroken you’ll be left to die in a ditch.
Though when you are trapped And the world is bleak Fight her you must With wing, talon and beak.”
With this blessing Niniane turned to the moon And she whispered sadly “I shall see you soon.”
@authentically-avalon So I heard this song today and I immediately thought of you and your Blodeuwedd figure! I have no idea if you’d heard this before, but I figure I’d tag you in it because it is beautiful and I feel like it would be the perfect song to play while you’re working on her <3
Arturia: *kisses cheek*
Mordred: What was that?
Arturia: Affection.
Mordred: Disgusting.
Mordred: Do it again.
Mordred: So now I’m supposed to do anything that the King does? What if he jumped off a cliff?
Bedivere: If our King were to jump off a cliff, he would have done his due diligence regarding the height of the cliff, the depth of the water, and the angle of entry. So, yes, if you see our King jump off a cliff, by all means, jump off a cliff.
Arthur, pointing to a horse: “What kind of dog is this”
Kay: I got a dog for you. I named him too.
Arthur: what is the name?
Kay: Horse.
Arthur: you must think that is so funny.

Welcome Post
So, I don't expect this blog to be very popular or anything, as this niche seems to be very small. This is more a blog strictly for my own notes and ideas.
But for those that do come across this blog, this is a fair warning that every post I make will be UPG. Which is, Unverified Personal Gnosis. What this means is that everything on this blog is from my own journey, my own thought, and my own ideas.
I practice a form of witchcraft that I refer to as Arthurian Witchcraft. This essentially means I incorporate the stories of King Arthur into my practice and have developed a path based on that.
I have read many books about the subject and where I can I will make notes of these books and sources, however due to the fact that much of the information on king Arthur is iffy at best, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
I will also be tagging things as Avalonian simply because many of my posts will also deal with the ideas of Avalonian witchcraft as well.
