The people that talk bad about straight ships are the same who will only ship mm not even ff. Shouldn't we embrace all ships and not act like another is gross? Everybody should be inclusive and not trash someone else's ships mf mm ff or otherwise. If the same was said about mm ships we all know what would happen. Have you ever experienced this in the rpc?
A terrible fact about the RPC is that people aren't as lenient with female muses as they are with male muses. Since I started RPing like a decade ago, I've noticed a growing sermon of "this female muse is a self-insert and a Mary-Sue, they only want to collect ships and godmod." I've seen this so many times in forum RPs, discord RPs, Tumblr RPs, etc. Yet, this rhetoric has never been applied to male muses as whole. This is where the base of this problem comes from.
I have seen a female muse get talked horribly about by someone that is praising a male muse for doing the exact same the female muse is doing. Needless to say, that was one person I cut ties with.
It's important to be inclusive. That's what the RPC claims to want to be, right? A het ship is never any threat to a gay ship, and vice versa. Just like it's not bad to be gay, it isn't bad to be straight. Let characters develop their ships, despite their sexual orientations.
I write a multitude of characters, but I have mostly male muses. I have only one active female muse and I've had issues on my female muse that I just don't have on my multiple male muses. At the time, I was starting to think that maybe my female as character isn't gaining people's attention? I worked on her for years, so I thought that it was a me problem.
So, I came up with the private idea ( that no one knew about ) of making another character with the exact same personality, the exact same characteristics, the exact same backstory, the exact same occupation into the exact same fandom as my female muse. But instead, I made the muse male. And this new male muse of mine that was a carbon copy of my female muse? People directly came and interacted with him in this particular fandom that didn't even look my female muse's way.
Trust me, I know there is a huge difference certain muses can be treated simply based on their gender, UNFORTUNATELY. Can this please be something that we work on as a community? I know some people who only wrote a female character that have abandoned their muse's blog because they didn't get basic interactions. Let people ship, no matter if their muses are mm, ff, mf, mnb, fnb, nbnb, or anything else.
