My name is Onyx, I'm 24, Transmasc Nonbinary (They/He). I have been struggling with Anorexia for what feels like forever. My anorexia is personally in large part trauma based, however it does have it's other origins. I may talk about these things on here, along with posts about my general life.

I am also diagnosed with BPD with Antisocial features and am medically recognized as having DID and will be having a diagnostic assessment in the upcoming months. These factors do contribute and will probably be discussed.

I'm also Autistic with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I also have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which does not help things. As you can see, I'm a fucking mess lmao. I also rely on weed and just any substance to help with my chronic pain and just generally shitty mental health.

This said, I do not encourage any of my own unhealthy behavior. I use this as a safe place to vent and ramble. If you are in recovery from any eating disorder, don't follow, in fact I'd encourage you to block me.

As someone who teaches 3-5 year old children, I can promise you gender is 100% socially constructed.

I have a four year old boy in my class who wears dresses and some of the children assume this makes him a girl. I am constantly telling these developing minds that no, wearing a dress doesn’t make someone a girl. He is a boy who likes dresses and that’s okay. And guess what? They get it.

When I say the same thing to some of my “progressive” friends, guess what? They don’t.

Looking back I think this needs to be said.

I was just as disordered when I was eating 1200 cals per day as I was when I was eating 300 per day. Seriously. My behaviours, the fear, the guilt, the thoughts, the exercise addiction, they were all the same. The only thing that got worse was how often I was purging and obviously my intake.

I think we've got into this thing where people only think ana is bad if you're eating like under 500 cals per day and exercising or purging every meal but the reality is that this is a mental disorder and just like you can be anorexic at any weight, you can be anorexic at any calorie intake, provided it's (most days) less than your maintainance and it's making you lose weight, you have a fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image bc they're the requirements in the DSM-5.

Physical health complications can also happen 'higher' intakes, if it's significantly lower than your maintainance (which it totally can be if you're tall or very active) then no matter if thats 1200 or 600 the physical health complications should be taken just as seriously.

I just thought this needed to be said because all these people that are saying they're not ana enough just bc so and so eats way less than them are so valid and sick enough.
