we need to stop calling it AI art. It’s not art. It’s computer-generated images at best and just plain theft at worst.
The dusky woodsallows say no to AI art!!
ai art is not art
art is a form of expression. ai art is computer generated. there is no thought, expression or anything behind ai art and your prompts telling it what to make do not count.
prompting art from an ai is not the same as prompting an artist and ai art is not an alternative for disabled people who have difficultly creating art.
ai generated images might be "getting better" but where they started still sucks, using other artists creations for reference aka copying someone else's homework just so ai could make anything. the prompts you use referencing real life people, art etc it uses what exists in order to make the images.
"but artists do that too" a good artist knows to use other work as references not merge it with their work. theres people who will steal, trace and edit others art but i wouldnt even call them artists because theyre using someone else's work.
ai generated images are just that, strings of numbers projected as an image.
dont use an ai and claim you made the art, you didnt, you prompted a program to make an image. go give actually making art a try.
this is not exclusive to digital art either, it includes traditional and writing, and genally all forms of visual art.
sincerely a physically+mentally disabled artist.
You know what really sucks about art history and AI?
These days, I can't go on Google and look up "Renaissance" or "Rococo" or "Baroque" art without the results being absolutely littered with shitty, modernized AI pictures. If I'm studying 18th-century portraiture, I'm looking for themes and motifs specific to the period (composition, shape, emotionality, emphasis, etc), so I can better understand the cultural values of an era, and then deconstruct and experiment with them in my own art. I don't want to see some generic hot girl in an inaccurate Marie Antoinette dress, or a Chad Napoleon that's even more ridiculous than the Jacques-Louis David propaganda. Jesus Christ. This garbage isn't even comparable in how awful it is, and it's infecting everything.
For reference, on the left is the work of Artemisia Gentileschi, an actual Baroque artist (click for full size), up against "Baroque Style" from a website selling AI prints. Ew. I won't even explain how Not Baroque the image on the right is, it's so bad it's actually criminal.
Examining historical art periods in modern works is one thing, but this shit isn't even trying. This is another reason why AI isn't art. You can click a button and make something aesthetically pleasing, but you learn nothing. You evoke nothing. You say nothing. There is not a single ounce of value to be had here, other than demonstrating our culture's most superficial ideals, your complete lack of personality, and absolutely no foundational knowledge or intuition. It's a joke is what it is. Artists are trying to do actual work over here, you're just a waste of air.
Images of edgy wolves and skeletons with fire and lightning are intended to be made by AMATEURS IN PHOTOSHOP and PEOPLE WHO MAKE AIRBRUSH ART ON VANS AND NICHE CALENDARS, not AI!!!!
Whenever i see them made by ai slop it's like seeing one of those really terribly bred 'designer' pitbulls. Who did this to you, this is cruel. This is painful. You weren't made for this.

What is the future of the art profession when artificial intelligence can create a masterpiece with just a click?
I've wondered time and time again what my career will look like in a few years and it is scary to see how speculations are rising on Disney using AI to create their animated movie "Wish". Because it did so bad. Companies would rather use ai and create bad movies than pay artists a living wage. At this moment, AI can't fight back so it's easy.
