probably had about 4 mugs of coffee this day... also finally made the CBC results for our patient - did loads of reading to match the results to our case ; we're the ones that made up the case, scenarios and everything and the most taxing would probably having to come up with laboratory findings such as this, the complete blood count.

I consulted my friend's mom, a pediatrician and professor if my made up findings are in line to our case and I was really 🥰🥳🥰 inside when she said it is parallel to our case and would recommend oxygen supplement (which we have)

Today's coffee is light roast, it's very light so I was able to drink lots, haha

18:10 — it’s the weekend but i’m here, working on a paper. i actually finished it earlier today but right now i’m finalizing it & then i have to make a canva presentation after / i’ve been working on our dining table the whole week for a much-needed bigger space for the pile of references. this week felt so long and so short at the same time. *looooong sigh* if only life is easy.

had one report today, one SGD, then hit the gym after classes. haven’t napped yet. been up since 6am and so far, i don’t feel exhausted. i love this energy!! going to do pharma next (analgesics and NSAIDs) and prep for tomorrow’s case report in anesthesia and gout. let’s do this!!!! manifesting ✨ dark academia vibes ✨

04.10.21 || moshi moshi ! recently i have watched a ted talk on how to learn any language in six months by Chris Lonsdale. i took some notes from the video and i thought it would be great to share these with all of you. here are 7 actions for rapid language acquisition —

listen a lot! it's called brain soaking. you put yourself in a context where you're hearing tons and tons and tons of a language and it doesn't matter if you don't understand it or not. what matters is you're listening to the rhythms, to patterns that repeat.

focus on the meaning FIRST before the words, focus on the body languages!

start mixing! if you've got 10 verbs, 10 pronouns and 10 adjectives you can say 1000 different things. language is a creative process. it doesn't have to be perfect, just has to work. remember how babies communicate - “me hungry eat’’ learn language like a baby!

focus on the core! any language is high frequency content. in English, 1000 words cover 85% of anything you're ever gonna say in daily conversation.

get yourself a language parent! who's somebody interested in you as a person who will communicate with you essentially as an equal but pay attention to help you understand the message.

copy the face. if you can look at a native speaker and just observe how they use their face, let your unconscious mind absorb the rules, then you're gonna be able to pick it up.

“direct connect’’ to mental images. when you hear the word fire, you think of smoke you go into that imagery and you become more and more skilled at just connecting the new sounds to those images that you already have into that internal representation. you prolly heard of associating a picture or a drawing when you're learning a new word in your target language. it means the exact same thing.

20:08 — decided to have the “&” printed and hung in my office. people have been asking what it means, but to be honest, there’s nothing special about it. i just like using the ampersand because it’s the fancy “and” + it’s also my blog title for almost a year now! <3

and yes i spilled half of the espresso but it surprisingly looked aesthetic, and more importantly, the coffee still tasted excellent! hee it’s gonna be a good day!

Day 15 [14.2.17//15.2.17]: Typed or handwritten notes?

My laptop is one of the best things I own and it’s no exception when it comes to notes. I love making them neat + pretty on word. However I really love making notes by hand because that’s how I memorise! It’s too hard to decide.
