The Muslim Community needs to do a better job at defending these women instead of referring to them as “damaged goods” behind their back. As a young woman I’ve seen the conversations about a divorced woman with children, they talk about her like she’s of useless, and her life is over. I’ve heard the conversations about a young divorced woman with no children, they refer to her as damaged goods.  Stop looking at their divorces as failures, their children as ‘extra baggage” and her sexual assault/rape as a “taboo subject” that makes her undesirable. Its so disgusting and disheartening as a young muslim woman to see these opinions being enforced over and over. It does nothing but embed into my mind that my only and important value is my virginity.
