⊹˚₊ Hi I'm Caine and I made this account mostly as a place to dump all my Expedition 33 doodles and thoughts. I mostly draw but I do occasionally write fanfics and analysis posts as well. Ever since I was a small child I knew I wanted to support women's wrongs and be annoying about monsters and that's all I'm doing here 🫶

⊹˚₊ Clea is my favourite character and I'm obsessed with whatever the hell is wrong with her. I'm also very invested in the Dessendre family dynamics (both original and painted) and in the inner lives of mob Nevrons than I have any reason to.

Having pClea brain worms really makes you desperate enough to create an entire AU for her just because there really is only so much you can explore regarding her overpaint 🥹

But I'm having fun(?) because it really is fascinating to explore how a character like Clea would deal with an experience that's basically tailor made to break her brain with a near total loss of control of everything. And then coming out of that experience and having to deal with the messy aftermath of something that was meant to be final.

Also I'm not involving the original Clea directly I think she'd not try to intervene with pClea because then it'd look like she got #owned and is mad about it so she refuses to show she's a poor loser. If Maelle could pull off the feat of severing her tie to pClea then sure, fine. But I do think if/when she learns that despite coming back wrong and being "useless" and having to rely on others for help pClea is still loved. She's being a burden and she's still valued as she is. Much to think about :/

WIP WEDNESDAY (but actually it's Thursday and I'm two weeks late)

I have been in the pClea Rehabilitation AU mines for the past few weeks so here's something from it. I've been thinking about all the seemingly mundane ways that'd be really challenging for her to get used to. Going through her own wardrobe and having a really negative reaction to how her own clothes look on her now is not the worst of her worries, but I also think it's way more distressing than you'd imagine.

Kept thinking about this revenge fantasy au piece about pClea turning the tables on Clea and wanted to take the design a little further :) Design notes under read more

Purposefully left looking unfinished so she'll always be reminded she's imperfect and incomplete. I also tried to make it so that the human aspects of her look (skin and hair) lowkey make her look more unpleasant than if she was a full-on monster but I may be speaking from a place of massive bias

The dark blue ink on her face is always dripping, so she looks like she's crying. It's meant to be a mockery of her Paintress mask (her real world sign of power) while also making her private feelings of grief outward and thus make her look kind of pitiful

White skin in connection to white Nevrons, since their colour marks them as failures.

Cracks on skin for 1. the slight resemblance to what her parents look like in their Curator/Paintress forms 2. to further add to the imperfection motif and 3. to sort of suggest she HAS cracked under all the pressure and she couldn't handle it

Took the neck symbol design from her concept art and added them on her wrists to resemble chains. Chroma attached to them gives the impression of marionette on strings. I'm throwing her a bone and making it visually extremely clear that she's resisting so strongly that you can't even hide it.

Not a visual thing but she's not entirely silent. It's just that she sounds like the Curator so nobody understands her so them it just sounds like monstrous wailing
