There was something to be said for cultural differences.
More specifically put: the enduring culture shock Link experienced at least once on each visit to her realm amused her to no end. Were Midna being completely honest with herself, she even found it⊠kind of adorable, in a way⊠If only because he looked like such a dope whenever he was surprised or embarrassedâwhich as of late had become an especially common occurrence.
Not that she was making it any easier on him, of course⊠especially not now, with where they were headed. She had to bite back a giggle at his question as it was; frankly, it would be a miracle if he didnât faint right on the spot once he found out.
âYouâll see for yourself soon enough, my impatient little wolf!â she sing-songed in reply, unable to resist a smirk back at him. And soon enough in turn, they arrived at a glowing tile before a precarious gap and the black expanse of wall that ended in an upper floor several feet above them.
Midna stopped dead upon the dormant elevator, but instead of waiting for it to lift them across, she grabbed Link about his waist and pulled his body flush to hers with merely a huffed, âCome on!â as forewarning, before hoisting him up and flying the both of them across the gap on her own. Where they landed upon the upper level left them before a pair of grand doors, and she finally let go of him to push them open.
Beyond the doors lay a large chamber, similarly absent of any other Twili. The scent of flowery, dusky perfume and the quiet, burbling water lapping at tile greeted them, as carved into the center of the floor was an ornate pool. Steam rising from the bath mightâve made the sight hazier, were it not able to rise through the large skylight in the ceiling; the water beneath glittered as much as the Sol-light embedded in the surrounding walls, reflecting the brilliant wash of sunset and shifting black clouds with a cyan hue.
Midna couldnât help a pleasant sigh at the gentle breeze that hit them as they entered, eyes closing briefly and a grin curving her mouth as she approached the edge to tip a toe in the water. In truth, she had simply thought this might be a nice, relaxing experience for himâsomething he got so little ofâas much as it would be fun for her, but perhaps she had underestimated how much her tense muscles needed this, too.
Her back to her companion, she reached up and freed her hair from the high ponytail it had been knotted up into; the curls bounced loose and wild about her shoulders and back as she strode into the pool. Following that, she peeled the shadow clothes from her skin, letting them shift back into those fluttering black squares that permeated her world and disappear into the ether.
As she sank further in, her skin gradually became flushed with a light, purplish hue from the heat of the water; as it enveloped her up to her stomach, her shoulders sagged in apparent bliss. Thereupon hitting the deepest part of the water, she paused, glancing over her shoulder at him with a mischievous little grin.Â
âWell? Whatâre you waiting for, hero boy?â Midna cooed, and turned to face him fully, leaving little, if anything, to his imagination. That flush seemed then to reach her cheeks, but it was debatable if it was just from the heat of the water. âDo they not have baths in Ordon?â
