Alright guys unfortunately I came across a blog that has reposted a ton of cars fan art. I know for a fact that the art on their blog is not their own because I came across a couple pieces that I know the real artists of.
They’re not directly claiming ownership of the art but still, reposting so many pieces with zero credit is not a good practice. And I know a lot of artists are not okay with that.

Mamma Mia, here we go again... I absolutely love this movie, and I've been having a lot of fun thinking of what kind of vehicles they'd all be in the cars universe. Bill would be a sailboat, give that man a tie-dyed sail for the 60's flashback lmao.

ig this is more so over all fandom than just fanfic, but I've gotten into a few arguments over my interpretation of canon bc some people don't agree with it and call my conclusions to it "non compliant". but my interpretation has root in canon, like it should, and there's also ppl that agree with me. ig I'm just wondering why it is so difficult for people to understand that different interpretations of the same medium are possible.
There are a lot of different reasons why someone might fall into the kind of rigid thinking that only allows one viewpoint instead of being open to alternative interpretations.
growing up in a household or society that strongly mandates following the rules or respecting the leader (in this case, the author or the canon)
reacting to the stressful nature of the constantly-changing world (or just a lack of control in their personal life) by attempting to control things that are important to them
binary (or black-or-white, or all-or-nothing) thinking habits that see things as either right or wrong with no nuance or room for areas in between.
There are probably more, but those are what come to mind at first. We all have areas in our lives where we're less open to doing things differently and for some people, the area that they protect the most is a fandom that is important to them.
If a fandom or a character or a relationship has an outsized importance in your life - for example, it helped you through a tough time or it helped you realize something about yourself - then it can be difficult to see someone else interpret that same thing in a very different way. Especially if that's a way that contradicts what you took away.
I know it's kind of a cliche at this point, but it's also true that your emotions are valid and your experiences matter. But to reference another meme: your experiences are not universal. It's possible for 100 people to engage with a single piece of art and for them to have 100 different interpretations.
It's also possible that 80 people will have one interpretation, 15 people will have a second interpretation, 4 people will have a third interpretation, and 1 person will have yet one more.
In all of those cases, those people are engaging with the art based on their own life experiences, knowledge, cultural background etc.
I think a better way to frame things, instead of "compliant vs non-compliant" is to think of things as compelling or not compelling. Is this an idea that intrigues me? Is it something I want to hear more about? Is it something I want to dig deeper into? Or not.
If not, then keep on moving. Maybe complain to your bestie in a private chat. But don't try to shut down someone else's party just because you don't like the music.
