It wasn’t too often that Ash went drinking, and it was rare for him to go alone. However, today was just one of those times he need a moment for himself. While there was a bar not too far from his job, it just didn’t compare to the Frying Pan. He was biased since he was friends with the owner, but hey, nothing better than winding down near someone you know.

As he boarded the ship, he inhaled and let out a sigh. It something was smelling good as always. Maybe he’d grab a bite to eat too.

Many people had commented on how he seemed like a different person on the job. He wasn’t as rambunctious, and sometimes he didn’t have his usually grin on his face. Ash was well aware of how he came off, but his job serious business. It wasn’t too hard to understand.

He particularly liked to bug his coworkers with his sudden change in mood. His go-to person to bug was Shane. Ash had nothing against Shane, more specifically, he was quite fond of Shane, though he couldn’t really say why.

As the clock ticked down on their shift, the blonde began to spare a few glances towards his coworker. He remained quiet, but each time he looked, he would stare a little longer. He glanced down at his watch. Just one minute to go. He removed himself from the shelf he was working on and snuck over to Shane’s side as quietly as he could.

“Hey Shane! My guy!” He shouted with a hearty laugh. “What’s up?”

Who is someone you support, no matter what?

“I’d have to say my mother,” he started, smiling fondly. “She’s done so much for me and my sister despite the hardships she faced after my father walked out. I know things were hard for her, but she always had a smile on her face. It kept me going through the rough parts of my life. For that, I’m truly grateful.”

“I think it’s an easy choice for me, I’d say Georgia. She’s been a great friend for a long time, and plus she’s great with animals. Her sass is a bit much, but hey, who would she be without it?”

“For myself, I’d say I’m pretty patient for love, as for life…It’s short and you have to enjoy what you can and do what you want while you still can! So I tend to rush things a little when it comes to life!”

“However, I can get a little impatient when it comes to my friends’ love lives…” Ash chuckled to himself. “As much as I want to just kick many of them in the butt and tell ‘em to go for it, I just sit back and suffer wait for them to make their move!”

There was only one person Ash hated, and he hated that man with every fiber of his being. If he had ever seen him again, only one of them would be walking away from that meeting unscathed.

“My father.” He muttered lowly. He could remember the day he walked out on him and his pregnant mother for another woman. What kind of scumbag would do such a thing? “I…I can’t forgive him. I will never stop hating him for what he did.”

In five years, he’d be 30 years old…Holy shit, in five years he’d be 30. It was a bit of surprise to him, since he really hadn’t been paying attention to that, but as he thought about it, the answer became harder to see.

“I don’t really know where I see myself in five years. Maybe a family? Maybe owning an animal shop? Being put on the spot like that kind makes it hard to think.”

Ash thought this festival had to be a dream for Kamil. All these flowers that were around and being handed out, it must’ve been something he enjoyed. Of course, being friends with Kamil, Ash wanted to be able to give him something he enjoyed. He noticed his friend not to far from where he was and decided to sneak up on him

“Hey, Kam...” He said, as he swung an arm over his friends shoulder. “Having a good day? Enjoying the festival?” He looked up before presenting the bouquet of alstroemerias, lisianthuses, and sunflowers. “Thought you’d enjoy some of these. Happy Flower Festival.”

He was glad that there was no real dress code for the festival. As nice as it was to see other people dressed up, it wasn’t his thing to get super into it. Seeing Laney dressed up as nicely as she was made him crack a smile. His friends had enough fashion enthusiasm for him.

“Hey, Laney,” he called out to her as he walked up. “You look nice today.” He said as he held out a bouquet of sunflowers, red alstroemerias, and blue lisianthuses. “I think it’s only right for you to get some nice flowers to go with your outfit. Happy Flower Festival.”

[🐎] — “Howdy-do, Ashie-poo~?” She singsongs, using her cringe-y nickname for him. Before giving Shane his flowers, Georgia runs into Ash at the animal shop. There was no way he was getting past this day without getting flowers from her, the two of them having known each other as long as they have.

Plus, her days always felt so much more complete when she got to bug Ash.

“Here ya go,” She hands him a red alstroemeria and blue lisianthus. “I’ve gotta run now, but Happy Flower Festival! I’ll see you later, yeah?”

In all honesty, flowers weren’t his strong suit. They were nice to look at and to receive as gifts, but when it came to meaning and such, he left that all to Kamil. However, since today was the Flower Festival he supposed he could spare a little effort in his gifts. He couldn’t really decide on what he wanted to give to each of his friends, so he settled at mixed bouquets. 

As he headed into the shop, he was greeted by Georgia. Ashie-poo. He crinkled his nose a little bit before a smile crawled across his face.

“Hey there, Georgina.” He replied. He took the flowers from his friend. “Thanks, and not so fast. You can’t run off before I give you the flowers I got.” He pulled held out a bouquet of red alstroemerias, blue lisianthuses, and sunflowers. “Happy Flower Festival.”
