(Original poster here:) It's probably like most show or service professions: you're expected to take care of that before your show and expected to hold it while you're performing, until the show is done or there's a break in your shift where you go undress, uncostume, and go. The shows are only like half an hour long.

you have to WALK to hatch eggs on Pokemon Go lol

those clever bastards. you can totally play pokemon go as you ride in a car or bus or train, your avatar will keep up, you can encounter pokemon, etc. but if you want to hatch an egg, you have to actually be walking because Pokemon Go clocks your speed and you won’t get any “steps” to hatch your egg if you’re going too fast lol

You know, people give millennials hell for their obsession with technology, but in all honesty, I think that a lot of millennials struggle in terms of their ambition because of the ridiculous technological advances that have surrounded us in our formative years and now hound us into adulthood, because they set the bar at a standard higher than has been seen before.

New technology has allowed us to create and build so much that it makes older tech and creations seem less impressive, mediocre, and obsolete by comparison. What I mean — Oh, you can sculpt? That’s great, but can you sculpt super small stuff on the graphite of pencils? Oh, no? Well then… Like, you can do art? Is it a super unique and fancy way of doing art? No? Then no one’s gonna be impressed. You can build electronic medical stuff? Well is it on par with these amazing cybernetic prosthetic limbs? No? Or, maybe you’ve got a good voice - so do most people, and most of them don’t make it past the initial qualifying rounds of American Idol or the Voice or X Factor or the dozen other signing shows.

Do you get what I mean? We grew up being told to dream big - famous singer, rock star, artist, scientist, etc - being told to pursue what we love and follow our dreams and all that crap, but the reality that is coming to light now is that if you’re not magnificent and unique at your trade, you’re probably not going to make it big. Honestly, you’re probably not going to make enough money to live a comfortable life on your dream job alone, ever, to live a comfortable life from just that. As a 24-year-old who grew up being told OVER AND OVER how talented I was with art and music and writing, I am inundated every day with media and information via the internet about how there are four-year-olds in China with more talent that I could ever hope to amass through years of study in any of my given interest fields. Do older people realize how daunting it is to grow up being told you’re special, etc, and then realizing that unless you’re amazingly prodigious, you’re probably doomed to a paycheck-to-paycheck life?

So I mean, as a millennial - sure, give me crap for being on my phone and my laptop, but please understand that I was raised to believe I could be anything I wanted, and the harsh reality of being a college-educated, debt-ridden, lower-class citizen making minimum wage is setting in, and has made me and my fellow millennials realize the lie of “you can be whatever you want!”

Like, they told me I could be whatever I want. They didn’t say that by the time I got to this age, whatever I wanted would be simply, “not starving this week, and to have a roof over my head.”
