There are two kinds of fic writers:
1. Fuck it, it’s fiction
2. Let me look up real estate listings, so I can plot out subway routes and schedules and see if this walk really is long enough for them to have this conversation.
Guess which kind I am.

Could you maybe reblog this post if you think respecting trans peoples' names and identities is a basic right and not a political opinion?
No pressure. Just seeking some validation of my sentiment. Due to some. people
“asexuals are basically straight”
“asexuals are inherently homophobic”
“asexuals are just confused; not having sex is just celibacy”
“asexuals are just gays with internalized homophobia”
“asexuals have no place in the lgbt+ community”
“there’s no such thing as aphobia”
“i’d never touch an asexual person"
“ace people just aren’t oppressed enough to be in the lgbt+ community”
“i only hate the cishet aces”
“asexuality isn’t a real thing”
headcanon that taking pictures of neil is like taking pictures of bigfoot. he’s impossible to pin down, he always moves his head at the last minute, every photo is blurred or partial even when they’re actively getting him to sit still for a picture. the foxes have collectively approximately six pictures of neil that actually look good and they are treasured and pinned up in the lounge at the stadium in point of pride. dan is the first to notice the pattern since she’s usually taking the pictures, but they all see it eventually.
every decent photo that they have of neil he’s near andrew. neil may be one of the only people that can make andrew move, but andrew is one of the only people that can make neil slow down.
reading comic books provides you with a level of tolerance for not knowing what the fuck someone is talking about and pressing on anyway that is absolutely invaluable to the humanities actually
dan: don’t overreact
neil, already planning his next identity: i’m not
Wymack at weekly meeting: Alright remember, do not add to the population, do not subtract from the population, do not end up in a hospital or jail and if you end up in jail establish dominance quickly, now go have a fun weekend
I know that Andrew and Neil never have kids, that they never adopt or foster or anything, but there’s one thing in my head you can’t convince me of.
You can’t tell me that one year, there isn’t a fox that reminds Wymack so much of Neil or Andrew. And it kills him to see this kid struggling, rejecting their role on the team, fighting him at every turn. You can’t tell me that after trying his best, never gaining their trust, Wymack doesn’t decide that they need a mentor and call Neil. And you can’t tell me that Neil wouldn’t try to help. That he wouldn’t see this kid, so terrified and untrusting, and feel it in his soul that this was himself when he joined the Foxes too.
And sure, the kid is in college, and to them it doesn’t need to be said- but they welcome this kid into their home, and let them know that they are always welcome. There’s an open invitation to every holiday, they get mailed a key to the new house whenever they move after the pros. And they come home. For every holiday. Because they feel safe there, maybe Neil and Andrew were the first people who made them feel safe and protected, maybe Andrew and Neil never say ‘I love you’, but this kid knows that this is what love is really like. So maybe, they don’t adopt or have kids, but they change some kid’s life forever. And that kid becomes a part of their family, and sees them as fathers, because they may be dysfunctional and a little abnormal and they are totally weird and complex, but they look out for this kid when no one else does.
Anyway, you can’t tell me otherwise.

I did not write this, but I second it

Non-Filipinos can reblog this btw
Yep.
If you’ve ever spoken to a Tagalog speaker, they may have trouble with pronouns in English. My parents came over as professionals that are fluent in English. They speak English 70% of the time. They’ve lived in the US for nearly 50 years and they still fuck up pronouns.
This is because there is no “he” or “she”. There’s just siya which encompasses both (all) genders.

A Quick PSA (and a slight rant)
I've been seeing a lot of AFTG fics lately that are either incorrectly or really poorly tagged, or straight up just not tagged for major triggers at all. So, this is a reminder - tag your shit.
I don't care if you're "really bad at tagging". I don't care if you "don't want to turn people off of your fic". TAG. YOUR. SHIT.
AFTG canon has a laundry list of triggers already, we all know this. You still need to warn your readers about potential triggers.
There are some extremely dark, heavy fics out there on AO3 right now that are not tagged properly. Not only that, their tags are often misleading or just outright incorrect.
I'm not against writers exploring dark themes so long as its done well (I would be a hypocrite if I was, since I write about such things myself at times) but for fuck's sake, protect your audience. You could do serious harm to your readers by catching them off guard with heavily triggering material that they were not expecting. If you're not good at tagging, ask a beta reader to help you tag it. That's what they're for!
TLDR; tagging is not only useful for organizing fics and helping ppl find what the want to read, it is essential for warning and protecting readers in the fandom.
