thinking about the possibility that melina is the twins' shadow and she's being raised in farum azula by maliketh due to her connection to destined death as the former gloam eyed queen and the twins often visited her there, or at least miquella does and just–
i actually like adding drawings to these lore bits and shite. and since i take said drawings from comics i've done/is currently being done, it's relatively low effort too.
arashi starts out as a blank slate that barely talks or reacts, decked out in her complete astrologer outfit.
the only person she ever talked to was melina, roderika, and hewg; though the latter only barely as well, seeing as she rarely visited the hold and whenever she does, it was only to upgrade her weapon.
she remained that way for majority of her journey in limgrave, before she slowly started gaining a 'personality' of her own.
though arashi's 'personality' was mostly just her mirroring the person she's infront off.
if they're nice, she's nice. if they're mad at her, she's mad at them as well. if they're calm, she's also calm. so on, and so forth.
one of the few times people would see her true self, even much much later on in her adventure, was whenever she's not infront of someone she could mirror. in which case, she would revert back to a blank slate.
she becomes a special kind of mirror when she dislikes a person.
the personality that she mirrors from them is a more twisted version, and it becomes more severe the more she hates them.
if they'e manipulative, she's even more so; if they're a liar, nothing that comes out of her mouth is true. if they're aggressive, she's violent in turn.
because of this, arashi is naturally good at seeing through people.
fia was not an exception to this.
like how arashi treats most people, she's indifferent to fia. the only reason she got 'close' to her was to help her longtime friend rogier.
even then, she knew how manipulative fia can get.
she thought she knew her well though, which is why her betrayal angered her so much. even though she knew it was coming, it was what she did to a specific someone that turned her indifference to hate.
because she didn't just use her, she also used her to get to darian.
and so she handled fia the only way she knew how: mirroring her.
just like how she betrayed her, arashi would betray her as well.
posing as her closest ally, arashi would aide fia in the deeproot depths and surrender ranni's hallowbrand to her; an item that previously served no purpose until fia had asked for it.
and she would battle fortissax, the lichdragon guarding godwyn, in fia's deathbed dream to get rid of the final obstacle in her path.
in the end, fia would give birth to the mending rune of death. she would be at her highest, having the lord candidate arashi as her ally.
she would wish upon her to become lord and use the mending rune of death, and await for godwyn's revival.
but at that moment, arashi would merely keep the mending rune away from fia as she has no intention of throwing away the path rogier had helped paved for her.
arashi only made her feel hope for a future that would one day welcome those who live in death, only to snuff it out herself.
