I was doing some research (aka scrolling for hours) and saw a thing a saying that you used to hang around The Kinks when they were still The Ravens. I’m curious about what you thought of them then, and what you think of them now.

I actually liked them better as The Ravens. Something about their energy was completely different, and I found them much more engaging. That isn't to say I dislike them now. They're still lovely men!

It's not fun, that's for certain. I always have more work to do though, so if I ever struggle with it, it's quite easy to find something to do. I do also love putting on a record and laying in the dark to listen. It always helps.

Perform? Oh goodness, I'm not much of a singer, but I guess I'd pick Yesterday. It's a nice, calm, simple song. Shouldn't cause me too much trouble.

What’s your favorite memory of you and John?

Oh... oh... it has to be in Barcelona. I had woken early and sat on the balcony with my tea, watching all the people go by. From inside our room, I hear John wake and start playing his guitar from his bed. For the next hour, he writes a song about the very trip we were on. Even mentioned me by name. Never produced it of course but he gave me the lyrics he wrote out.

What’s a book you’d recommend, Mr. Epstein?

Oh I have a number of good books by my bedside right now! Try The Rabbi by Noah Gordon, or Bull Fever by Kenneth Tynan. Or, you could always just read my book, A Cellarful of Noise.

What are your thoughts on other 60s bands? Like The Rolling Stones or The Monkees

They're a lovely bunch of men! I've attended a number of the same functions as them and I have to say, every conversation I have with them is very, very entertaining. I don't find any of them abrasive. I know they're meant to be competition but no one can be bigger than my boys, so no matter!

People go to parades just to offer hugs? Well, I could do that. And so would George. Mal... would take some convincing. But if Paul went, I'm sure he would.
