Hello Pokéask community. today, we are gathered here to talk about a rather pervasive issue within the community.
That's right, we are going to talk about:
TRANSMISOGYNY
I don't really need a preamble or anything. Yes, it's true, this community has historically been quite hostile to trans women. I've had a friend targeted with false accusations of being a creepy pervert for the crime of being trans and female. As if that is a crime, somehow.
We had a predator and known drama-monger some couple years ago who was able to get away with it for so long because most of their victims were trans fem, whom no one believed, because they were trans fem.
And of course we have had various incidents of people using any number of gross terms to refer to trans women, gleefully and casually.
So by now you are probably beginning to see the pattern.
Maybe you need some help. In that case I shall enlighten you...
So what is transmisogyny? It is exactly what it says on the tin: the discrimination and mistreatment of trans women. It is an intersection of transphobia and misogyny. As such it is both of those as well.
Why is it bad? Well, the better question to ask would be why *isn't* it bad? It serves no purpose beyond the spread of hatred as well as perpetuating the belief that women are like property that must look and act a certain way.
Who does it affect? Obviously the primary target is trans women, and you should care about the fact that it harms trans women. But in fact, transmisogyny affects everyone.
You might think "I don't hate trans women, so I'm not transmisogynistic!" and you may not be. But, you must also keep in mind that it is so deeply entrenched in society that you might say and do transmisogynistic things without knowing it.
For example:
Do you expect women or female characters to look a certain way? This could be plain old misogyny, but it could also be transmisogyny. If you've ever complained that a female character looks too much like a guy because her boobs are too small or her shoulders are too wide, etc., well yeah ... you are probably suffering from transmisogyny disease. And also general misogyny disease too, seeing as transmisogyny is a subtype of it.
Do you get grossed out by women with certain types of genitalia, insisting they censor themselves as some sort of fetish or otherwise sequester themselves away for the sake of others? It is transmisogyny. Regardless of what you are attracted to, a woman should not be forced to hide herself away as some kind of freak commodity simply because she is not what you personally consider desirable. Also, people are likely forced to interact with you on the regular, so it just makes you a hypocrite.
Do you refer to women by what is between their legs*? It is transmisogyny. It's a way to other women that do not fit the "norm".
Obviously, assuming any given trans woman is a secret pervert is transmisogyny. This may seem obvious but so many people do this! In LGBT focused spaces perhaps most of all!
there are many other examples but most tie back into the ones mentioned here. Please do a little introspection from time to time.
Trans women deserve to feel as safe and as welcome as anyone else here in this community.
Lastly: this post is about trans WOMEN (/trans fems). I am aware that other trans people exist, but there are certain pervasive attitudes that are near exclusively shown towards trans WOMEN, and so that is what this post is about.
*some trans women do refer themselves with such terms. There is a lot of debate about this matter, so try not to overstep if it is a trans woman herself using the term. She may be a victim of internalised transmisogyny but what people are comfortable with varies. But, never use terms like futanari or trap if you are not a transfem individual. Read the room.
The night ended quietly, gently, as it always seemed to after this event. The trio spent what little remained of the night enjoying the island's beauties alone, with the crashing of waves on the shore to accompany them. Loraifon dozed off from his seat on Maksviah's back, tuckered out from all the running around and chatting.
Gently tilting her head and pressing it against Teniguris’, Maksviah murmured, “I understand the difficulties of prying oneself away from their duties. I am very grateful to have spent this time with you.”
“I had a lot of fun too. I’m... sorry for not visiting more often. I’ll try to visit again soon, ok?”
“Nothing would make me happier.”

Maksviah, Loraifon, and Teniguris have all left the event.
(Small note: I will still interact with posts I've sent, if you want to respond to them. I just wont be sending out any more asks for these characters.)
Aegis@Teniguris: the Dialga was just wandering around when he saw Teniguris.
He approaches and asks, “I am quite curious, are you like the Creator of your realm?”
( @throughskiesoftime )
Teniguris startled at the sudden question, eyes widening slightly in surprise. “M-me, a creator? Oh, no no no, my role is not that grand. I, uh, may have some Arceus traits, but it’s nothing special really. Just a byproduct of my job, one I chose and was not assigned to. Are… you the Creator of your realm?” they asked in return, slightly baffled.
While Teniguris was nowhere near normal for a Giratina, they knew more than enough to know that Giratina were not the primary creators of their realm, instead working under their Arceus. Most of the time, he amended mentally. After all, one only needs to take a look at their mother to see a Creator who’s not an Arceus. He wondered if this Dialga had come across another like her, or if the question was simply due to their Arceus traits.
“Ah. My apologies.” The Titan’s Champion apologized. “I merely asked because of the Arceus traits. That and Creator is quite a loose term in my world. My warden can attest to that. And no… unless realm counts as my tower and the actual Boiling Isles, which are part of my domain.”
He cocked his head to right to convey his confusion. “A byproduct? Color me confused.”
“Ah yes, that makes sense,” Teniguris nodded in understanding. “A difference in terminology amongst worlds. I should have suspected it, but I’m happy to have cleared up the confusion.”
On the topic of their duties, Teniguris shuffled a little bit, contemplating what to share before speaking once more. “Yes, a byproduct. I work closely with many Arceus, and I suppose their powers and abilities have rubbed off on me over time. It’s even changed my type, replacing what once was the dragon type with the normal one. I don't mind the change, in fact, I prefer it.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, what is your home like? You mentioned a couple places and I would love to hear more about them, o-only should you be willing to share, of course.”
“I would love to divulge.” Aegis replied. “Temporal Tower was once a part of Othrys, which is now where Astraea…” he pauses, remembering the Titan, “the Isles’ Titan whose body became the landmass now known as the Boiling Isles. No, before you ask, not figuratively. She/he/they… passed. In body, countless centuries ago, but in spirit… a mere six months ago. Magolor and I… saw her last act to save the whole landmass and… our (adopted for me, don’t ask Magolor.) child.”
Their eyes dart away from Teniguris. Then spoke again. “As for the tower, it used to be a Titan’s Nursery, now remodeled to hold 5 of the most important Time Gears, which leads to misconceptions about me only having 5 gears in total when in reality, there’s 24.”
The somber look disappeared as Aegis asked Teniguris, “what about your realm though?”
“Oh, that all sounds so unique and lovely! A Titan’s Nursery, I’ve never heard of such a place, how incredibly fascinating! However, I am sorry for your loss. I’m sure she was a wonderful individual, with how valiantly he acted in their final moments.”
“A-ah, my realm? Well…” they trailed off for a moment. How to explain this? “Well, in a way I have two, one I currently reside in and one that was found and stabilized by my mother. My current realm is very small and houses only me, alongside a few other souls. It is where I perform my duties from. I also visit my mother and her realm on occasion, and it is just as vast as any universe. I am actually older than that world itself, which is why it is less ‘home’ to me and more ‘my family's home’, if that makes sense?”

(@ask-dawnanddusk) The sound of tiny hooves skidding on the warm sand was the only warning Yuko would get as Loraifon barreled towards her. He came to a stop in front of her, looking up with bright eyes, filled with curiosity.
“Hello Miss!” he said, loud and enthusiastic, excited to meet someone new. “You’re very pretty! You remind me of some people I know back home, they’re super cool. And I’m sure you’re super cool too because you look just like them.” he rambled for a moment before stopping. “Oh, I had a question! Is there anything you’re super excited to do at the beach? If you don’t have any ideas I can give you some! There’s a lot to do, it’s really fun and cool!”
Yuko chuckled warmly as Loraifon skidded to a stop in front of her, his energy and enthusiasm quite infectious. She knelt in the sand to get a little closer to his level.
"Why thank you, my dear~ That's very kind of you to say. I don't know if I've ever been called 'cool' before."
She looked around at the beach ponderously for a moment, taking in the sights. Up until now, she'd been content just to walk the sand and enjoy the atmosphere.
"Hmm... I can't say I am. I'm just happy to be here," she chuckled. "But if you have some fun ideas, I'd love to hear them. Perhaps we could do them together? It's always more fun with a friend."
Loraifon happily trotted alongside Yuko, tail swishing in excitement. “Hehe, yeah, this place is super nice! Even if you don't have something you really want to do, just being here is super cool.”
“Oh, but there’s a lot of fun things to do!” he said, wiggling in excitement. “Like, like! Playing on the beach and searching for fun shells and rocks! The sand gets stuck easily though, so if you wanna stay super clean maybe try not to play in the water or sand a lot,” he said wisely, no doubt after many encounters with sand and salt stuck in his fluffy fur.
“There’s also a lot of cool people to see!” Loraifon rambled on. “If you can, you should go visit Nat, he’s super cool and amazing! He’s going on a trip soon so I won't be able to see him for a bit, but that's ok! I just hope he has a loooot of fun! Oh, oh! And! You can also eat a lot of tasty food too, which you should do if you’re hungry. I get hungry a lot at places like this, so if you want to do everything, you gotta eat so you have the energy to!” Loraifon advised, no doubt having already pilfered the food table once, and prepared to do so again if he was feeling peckish. Despite his seemingly boundless energy, he was still a growing child.
Loraifon paused his rambling for a moment. As the others words finally caught up to him, he perked up again, eyes bright and wide with excitement. “OH, I’d super duper love to do stuff with you! Is there something you wanna do first? I don't mind anything!”
"Well hello there young Arceus, it is a pleasure to meet you."
The large bug bowed in respect to the small god
"You seem very excited to be here. Is there anything in particular you are interested in at this event?"
Loraifon gazed up up up at the giant bug type, eyes sparkling in awe. She was huge! Kinda like his mom, but not as big or as sparkly. Still, it was really cool! He didn't see a lot of bug types because of the cold terrain their village was nestled within, so this was a new experience for him.
“HELLO MISS!” Loraifon shouted in excitement, “You’re really pretty! Oh, the event! There’s so much cool stuff to do here, like play on the beach and eat a lot of tasty food. But the best thing is meeting the Magi! They’re super cool and nice, and they glow like stars which is even cooler! It's also really fun to meet new people who live suuuuuuper far away from my home. I couldn't imagine living in a lot of places other people have been, but other people do, which is super cool to hear about!”

And so it was that the night came to an end. Silvan was joined at the buffet table by many others, in time. They had spoken to many people, and they were happy to say they had made some friends.
What would come of their journey, they did not know. But the night had given them the energy to keep moving forward. To keep going, even if the road would be tough.
“Greetings to you once again, it is an honour to visit this isle and celebrate your lovely holiday alongside the isles residents!” Maksivah called to the three Magi. Loraifon was perched on her head, resting in the warm fluff, while Teniguris stood close by her side. Loraifon waved to the trio from her head, eyes bright and excited. Maksviah gestured towards the Giratina. “As can clearly be seen, I have once more brought a family member with me, this time mine eldest.”
Stepping forward, Teniguris gently bobbed their head in greeting, their voice soft and a little nervous. “H-hello, it is a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for this lovely celebration, and for allowing us the time to rest. I-I’m not the most used to events like this, but this one has been amazing, and I’m honored to take part in it. It has been wonderful to spend more time with my family.”
Giving Teniguris a proud smile, Maksviah turned back to the Magi once again. “As in years past, we have all come together to bring you three gifts, forged and decorated as one.” She raised a small box up to the trio, showing them the contents carried within.
Nestled in the soft fabric, three cuff bracelets sat, lined with many intricate designs and studded with jewels.
The first was a soft green and decorated with warm oranges and pinks. The flower markings seemed to bloom from the metal, as if alive, their centers embedded with small gemstones. The second was a pale teal, with markings like that of the stars, constellations painted along its length and dotted with tiny, glowing white stones. The final was a warm cream, with dancing flames carved into its metal, red gemstones giving off a faint warmth. The three shimmered iridescently, and the gems encrusted into the metal shined beautifully, even in the dim light of the night.
“Creating these gifts was a great challenge and pleasure, and allowed us to come together in preparation for this meeting. Just as you have brought countless others joy, we hope to impart upon you that same feeling of unity and love. Until next year, Dear Glowing Hearts, and may your journeys remain ever joyous and wonderful.”
[The Magi approached the group, clearly happy to see Maksviah and Loraifon once again. They always enjoyed their presence, and while they never expected it the gifts they offered were always the highlight of their visit.]
Greetings and blessings to you and yours once more! It is always a pleasure to see you and your family.
[Upon Teniguris' introduction, they all bowed their heads to the Giratina in return.]
We would like to thank you specifically for keeping our Lord company. While they may not show it, we sense they quite enjoyed your company!
[They then turned their attention to the box and its contents, gingerly taking their respective cuffs and taking them in with glee. Their combined light began to shine brightly as they twirled around the trio, their joy tangible.]
You have all outdone yourselves once more! We cannot fathom what we have done to deserve such wonderfully crafted gifts, but your kindness does not go unnoticed!
[As the trio gathered before their guests, a flash of light appeared from the golden member of the Magi as they floated between each of the family members and handed off an indiscernible ball of light.]
[As the light faded, they could each see what was bestowed. For Maksviah, a beautiful set of silver bands that shone just as brilliantly as the rings that surrounded her at any given time. Etched into them was a winding spiral pattern, as if comets dancing around each other.]
[To Loraifon, a golden circlet was placed upon his head. Within the gaps of the metal filigree were deep green emeralds, mimicking leaves and vines as they crossed through the material. Small pearls acted like dewdrops scattered along the green, a large emerald at the center to contrast harmoniously with the gold that sat on his forehead.]
[Teniguris received a similar circlet, obsidian in color with multifaceted opals that shone like a nebula within the deep dark of space. Dotting the spaces in similar fashion to stars were small diamonds, the much needed stardust in the expanse that the circlet symbolized.]
We hope that these are of equal exchange, we always look forward to your family and the joy that they bring others on this isle. Should you ever need assistance, call out through your hearts and we will follow that call as far as we can.
Small note: I will not be taking or sending any more asks for the Magi event, but I will try and respond do every ask and interaction with my characters. It may just take me a bit as I am quite busy at the moment.
(@ask-dawnanddusk) Teniguris carefully approached Blossom, giving a gentle nod of hello before speaking in a quiet voice, “Hello there, my name is Teniguris. It is a pleasure to meet you. I was just, ah, wondering. You look very lovely and unique compared to other Leafeon I’ve seen, and I was curious as to if there was something specific that influenced your evolution. O-only if you wouldn't mind answering of course! I’d understand if it was something you wouldn't want to tell a stranger…”
"My theory goes - I might be born during the cherry blossom season, which is usually in a spring. And Leaf Stone has a hint of a cherry petal so...I think why I have my flower here. A bit unusual, don't you think?" she smiles.

(@ask-dawnanddusk) “Greetings once more Nat, it has certainly been a time since we last spoke!” Maksviah said with a smile, Loraifon trailing excitedly behind her. “As always it is a pleasure to visit you and yours, especially on such a night as lovely as this. Now, I have heard of a recent trip you and a select few companions attended, and would be delighted in hearing more should you wish to share.”
“Yeah yeah, I wanna hear too!!” Loraifon said excitedly, rushing forward to bonk his head against Nat’s leg in hello, “I wanna hear all about the cool stuff you did!”
It really has been a bit of time, right?
[It took him some time to think back when he had last seen Maksviah-shaking his head in disbelief.]
It has been... yoof, a good while actually.
[Nat's attention is brought back to the present as Loraifon bumps into him, laughing as pets the young Arceus on the head.]
Huh, you really think I'm that cool don't you? Guess I have a reputation to live up to!
[He sat down on the ground, indulging in Loraifon by getting closer to his level and playfully roughening him up for a bit before settling.]
Let's see... I was in Sinnoh some time back for a tournament, went really well despite losing! Spent a lot of time around the mountains and fields of the region again, hiking in cooler weather is very different to around here, for sure. Almost got chased by an Ursaring but we were all okay, hehe.
After that I came back here and rested a good bit. We just got done with a cross-territory trip, we started from up here and went to the south before coming back through the inside of the island. It was nice to do, really got my mind right.
And now the dragons and I are getting ready to go to Johto soon! We'll be there for quite some time.
[Despite his excitement, there's a twinge of sadness in his smile.]
It's... gonna be hard being away from everyone, let alone from here. There's no place like this island, so to leave it for such a long time is gonna be real hard to work through.
Besides, Johto gets actual winters. I'm not built for the cold anymore!
Loraifon oohed and aahed as Nat explained his trip and all he’d done. “Wow, that sounds like a lot! I dunno if I would have been able to do all that without getting reeeally tired. It’s a little sad you lost, but I’m sure you did great! And next time you’ll do even better, I know it!!!” he exclaimed, body wiggling in excitement and cheer at the thought.
“It is lovely to hear all you have done and accomplished in your time away from home. As Loraifon said, your passion and drive will certainly guide you to great heights, and I am most excited to see all that it is you will achieve in the future. Though, perhaps take a bit more precaution next time. I would certainly hate for anything to befall you during your adventures.”
After hearing Nat express his sadness at leaving home, Maksivah spoke again, voice gentle and comforting. “Certainly, leaving the place one calls home is difficult, and may take much time to adjust to, however I am certain you will persevere. You will always hold your home close to your heart, and will return one day very soon. Take comfort in that, keep your love close, and allow that passion to drive you forward. The time you spend will pass one way or another, and this lovely opportunity will certainly be one of many steps towards your goal. Know we believe in you, and all the good you will do. Your family will always be waiting for you when the time comes for you to return.”
(@ask-dawnanddusk) Carefully approaching the Wyrdeer, Teniguris gave a nod in greeting, bowing their head and speaking in a soft voice, “H-hello there, it is a pleasure to meet you, my name is Teniguris. I saw you sitting a ways away from the festivities and was wondering if you would like some company?”
[Teniguris can see the Wyrdeer visibly tense up upon arrival, but they seem to calm down almost immediately. In a way, Versi seemed confused at the Giratina... a few more moments and the Wyrdeer fully relaxes to how they previously were.]
I am content in passing the time by observing the events taking place further along the shore, it is not necessary to accompany me here.
[Their eyes squint in Teniguris' direction, as if trying to get a read on them.]
I thank you regardless. I will not demand that you leave me be, if this is how you wish to spend your time here.
Teniguris carefully settled themselves down onto the soft grass. They rested near Versi, but not close enough to be uncomfortable or to intrude on the others space. “Thank you for allowing me to rest alongside you. This event has been lovely, but I'm unfortunately not the most accustomed to celebrations such as this one." he explained. "A bit of time away from the chatter will help me enjoy the event to it's fullest, as the crowds and noise easily overwhelms me.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, is there anyone in particular you are looking to meet here? Or are you simply looking to enjoy the atmosphere and meet the Magi? O-only if you would like to share, of course. I’m also happy to rest in silence if you would not like to speak.”
[Versi nodded in agreement and understanding, a quiet hum as they mused.]
Indeed. Large gatherings leave room for chaos, something I wish to avoid in the moment. I enjoy watching from a distance as well, as you have said. It is much easier on the senses to observe from a distance.
I have come to meet with the Magi, yes. I know that they have a duty to attend to first, however, so I am more than willing to wait patiently.
I do find the means of conserving tradition amusing, too. I have seen many in my lifetime, so it is... endearing, in a way, to see how celebrations are observed in a place such as this.
“Oh, that's lovely to hear! I have yet to meet the Magi myself, but I plan on approaching them soon with my family. Together we worked on three gifts, and I do hope they enjoy them. Allowing others to meet the Magi before yourself is very kind, as it seems they’re quite busy tonight. I’m certain they appreciate the patience!”
“The conservation of tradition through festivals can seem a little silly at times, but isn't it wonderful to see everyone together, even if just for a little while? I know the two of us aren't the most social, but just observing it all can be fulfilling as well. I myself am incredibly happy this celebration exists, and am honoured to take part in it. The kindness of the residents here is both astounding and humbling.”

A legend. Titus couldn't even glance away. He could feel his eyes are locked to gaze at the larger dragon. Mixed feelings crash his mind, but he's trying to play it cool at least.
"Mm... h- hello..." Titus tried to form words. "I see you, mighty dragon." He bowed down in instance. Titus could feel the immense power from the giratina. He knew he shouldn't play around. "I hope you enjoy the time here. I really ad- adore your colors... wait i mean! I think you're really cool-" By instinct, he shot good compliments to please the mightier dragon.
“O-oh stars, please, there’s really no need for all that.” Teniguris fretted, gesturing for Titus to stand. “I-I’m honored, but there’s no need to bow or fret, I’m really not quite the type to require such formalities. If anything, it is a great honour for me to meet you! I have spent so much time alone or with my partner, it’s been far too long since I've properly interacted with others in a setting such as this one.”
“As for my colours, they are a result of my duties, nothing more than that. However, your colours and patterns are quite lovely themselves. I-I was wondering if there was a specific meaning behind them, or if they were simply one of many lovely variations I’m certain your kind possesses.”
