Something happened, and Silver was put in a cryopod for the next two hundred years. Silver is fourteen, and does not remember his parents.
Just like Silver, Jadeite was put in a cryopod for an unknown reason, and woke up two hundred years later. She is seven, and does not remember her parents (though, she's a bat-echidna, so it's kinda obvious).
This AU is after the events of Sonic Racing Crossworlds, following the theory about Sage and Silver's interactions affecting the future.
Silver only recently found Jade's pod, and they've only known each other for a few months. Silver sees her as his sister.
Silver is mildly hard-of-hearing, due to loud explosions and machines, but Jade is always standing right next to him, and the screaming is quite loud.
Both of them are neurodivergent because the mod says so.
Silver is nonbinary and goes by he/they. This description uses he/him for consistency, but after this, he will be referred to with he/they.
Jade is seven, and I'm not giving a seven-year-old a queer identity because that would get me ✨cancelled✨.

I had found Sonic after a devastating flood in Knothole Village. He was unconscious and wouldn’t have survived if he hadn’t been found. I have a feeling that’s why he developed a fear of large bodies of water.

... Great question. Uh, no. We don't have a machine. I can just... Summon portals. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I can't control exactly how far back I go, but I always end up exactly where I need to be. It's weird.
200 years. That is…a long time. How could that even be..? I don’t even think either of us could live for that long… Unless we had our consciousness uploaded into some sort of computer or cyborg form..
