Back again with another angry take.

Fallout is an 18+ rated game. As such, the majority of people creating content for it are adults. Adults who understand the themes of the game, and the injustices of the fictional world it depicts.

Some of us adults choose to explore the darker themes the game brings up - suffering and slavery and torture and sexual violence. These things are absolutely not intended to be viewed by children.

There are enough posts on tumblr about this but I'm yet again adding my voice to the chorus: fiction containing these themes is not automatically condoning of these themes.

And let's get to the point - r/pe and non-con and whatever else we're calling it, it's a part of the universe that fallout takes place in. It is violent, and horrible, and painful for the survivor, and sometimes, sometimes, an author might choose to depict those themes. And sometimes those authors are people without trauma, and sometimes they're people with trauma, and sometimes they're people who want to explore the horrible side of their character's experience in the brutal Post apocalypse world, and sometimes they want to piss around and write something dirty with fictional characters where no one is getting hurt for real, and want to safely explore a kink they might or might not have - which might or might not be the result of real life personal trauma - in a way that need only be interacted with if you are interested in reading that stuff.

I am not condoning violence irl. I am not diminishing the experiences of survivors, I am not fetishising someone else's trauma, I am fucking saying that if you choose to read something that is tagged clearly with something you don't want to see, something that hurts you, and then pillory the author, and their friends, and anyone who reblogs their content, with a campaign of personal harassment and try to goad other people into your shit slinging contest, then you need some help. You need to take a break, you need some support, and there is no shame in not being okay, or feeling hurt, or being triggered.

But you don't have the fucking right to demand that the rest of the world copes with trauma like you do. And if it isn't your direct trauma, then step the fuck off because you are actually harming people - and in the rage you've gotten into, a lot of those people haven't created anything disagreeable, they just reblogged something. And now they're hurt for real, and you're an abuser yourself. Hurt people hurt people, and all that.

Christ I hope you find some sort of peace soon, it must be so, so exhausting spending so much energy on this.

Hello.

It’s hard to even know where to start, but I guess there’s no easy way to begin with a post like this. I have decided to completely nuke my Tumblr of all its contents, and will be leaving the site. I have been harassed and terrorized, both within Tumblr and well outside of it, to the point that not only my mental health, but my actual real life safety has been jeopardized. I’ve withstood a lot of negativity and hatred over the past two years, but this has escalated beyond a point that I can reasonably tolerate and endure.

To the people that have stood by me through all of this, that have also suffered harassment, I’m sorry that it’s come to this. I’m so sorry that you all have had to be dragged through the mud with me, even though I know most of you did it willingly, and were proud to have my back. I will always appreciate how you stood by me and had my side, even during my darkest times. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I will miss you all.

To the people who have run me out, I hope you get a sliver of whatever it is you’re looking for out of this. If you need to hang “I heroically ran YJJ out and singlehandedly saved the Fallout fandom” on your mental refrigerator door, far be it from me to stop you. But do so with the knowledge that you have terrorized, tormented, and horrified a survivor of rape, childhood sex abuse, stalking, and domestic violence to the point of anxiety attacks, triggered episodes of PTSD, and constant sickened paranoia and fear. I hope your pursuit of purity over a few fanfictions and fanart was worth it.

& yeah, I know. It's a lot and everything is a zillion words long. 😬

I've been writing two years now & it's embarrassing but I've only managed to finish ONE story in that time. 😭

Working Class Hero is my first story ever & also my only completed work. It's Mac/F!SoSu. She's autistic & anxious & a Cabot. (Also the closest thing I have to a self-insert as we share a lot of the same quirks/hangups/beliefs/background.) BFFs with Deacon. Mac's written as the PTSD having, perpetually anxious sweetheart he would be in real life given his background. He doesn't meet her until she's back from the Institute so he's just kinda thrown into this bizarre, chaotic situation with everything going on.

It's sequel is WCH: Something to Be & is ongoing. 👍 Everyone's in love with my LW there, Benji. He describes himself as "Deacon Lite". Ha.

Walking Contradiction is my most popular story by far. I joke that it's both my magnum opus & the story that will never end. It's like 300k+ words & nowhere near finished. Deacon/F!SoSu told mostly from Deacon's POV. Nora in that one is a complex character with a v tragic, traumatic past that comes out in bits and pieces. She's BFFs with Hancock, Mac, Pickman, Piper, etc. Basically, the girl is a social butterfly. Lotta banter in that one. Extremely unreliable narrators. Shit gets crazy deep. Lots of twists and false flags and "omfg WHAT?!" kinda moments. I have it plotted out to within an inch of its life to keep all the shenanigans in line & already started on the sequel. Oh, & a lotta smut. So much smut. Holy cow. LOL (Stray Hearts is a companion piece that holds little scenes I couldn't get in there.)

Sassafras Roots is another Mac/F!SoSu one. Soulmates with a psych link and familiars. Very fun. Lottie is from KY like me, so there's a lot of local flavor going on there. Slow burn but once the bam happens it's pretty big. My Mac in that one is probably the closest to who he was as a kid. He's very cocksure & obnoxious & inappropriate. It's fun. Still in production!

Fuck Time is a... different story. Darker. There's a lot of angst and abuse and stuff happening. Deacon and Hancock as their worst possible selves, Mac as a horny young idiot & a SoSu who's got her toes right on the edge. Cass is one of those tragic trainwrecks that you're rooting so hard for because she really deserves so much better. She makes a lot of bad choices. Like, infinite. It's technically finished but not fully published because the last three chapters are giving me trouble with pacing. (I wrote it mostly while under the influence of painkillers after I broke my ankle last winter but ran out of meds before I finished editing and the damn thing makes me SOB LIKE A BABY when I'm sober, so it's difficult to edit. LOL)

Still Breathing is a story I started telling to tell a different story. It's sequel is the important thing. LOL It's got Maxson/SoSu (& also Maxson and basically the entire BOS). I was inspired because the characterization of Arthur in FO4 got to me. I loved that kid in FO3 so seeing what Bethesda did to him just set me off. @askelderarthurmaxson was a huge source of inspiration there. Ella is cute and spunky and is dragging the Elder out of his shell kicking and screaming. She's also BFFs with Deacon. Mac in that one is married to Curie (one of my favorite rarepairs) & it's really cute and fun. It's also still in production but slow going because Arthur's voice is very formal and stiff and it's hard to hold onto in my noodle. It's all plotted out & all (ugh the two twists coming are so choice), we just gotta get there.

I also have two Hancock stories that are on hiatus because I'm having voice issues with him, too.

Plus I'm working on an OW.

Plus plus now I'm apparently writing this Deloria story. 😒

IDK how I ended up with all these longfics going at the same time, but I did. Writing is my favorite hobby but sadly there's only so many hours in the day. If I had a robot army to work my farm or a Miss Nanny to mind the kids, I'd get a lot more done. 😤
