The other person – if that was what it was – hadn’t reacted in an unexpected way. Worrying, yes. Definitely not unexpected.
“Hunting trip,” Rem said, bowing his head slightly, so his eyes were shielded from the other person’s by the brim of his hat, but no further than would allow him to still observe the feet that were already ever so little too close. “Could ask you the same, but then again, I’m sure we both know the answer to that fucking mystery, don’t we?”
“W-we do?” This conversation didn’t seem to be heading for a good outcome. He backed up several more steps in preparation to run “I was just traveling. I don’t really have a reason to be here I guess.”
He shifted back “I’ll let you get back to your hunting. I’ve disturbed you too long.”
This was unexpected. Rem had never met a vampire that actually backed down from combat, rather than pridefully charging in. Perhaps it wasn’t a vampire.
“You better,” he growled, keeping a solid grasp on his sword. “Try not to get yourself killed on your way home.”

he took a deep breath in and made sure his hood was high enough on his head to hide his ears, but not enough to hide his face. Approaching the man he cleared his throat, “Excuse me, sir? Can you tell me the name of this place? I’ve been traveling for a while and I want to make sure I actually went the right way.”
Rem, who had been in his own dark and angry thoughts, turned his head and looked at the stranger. That was the first thing he noticed, that the person was a stranger. How much of a stranger, he could not say, but definitely not from anywhere near where they both currently stood.
“You’re in the middle of fucking Stensia, boy,” Rem grunted, trying to sound uninterested. It shone through however, that he was more than a little curious about this person. Not to mention cautious. His hand was already on the hilt of his sword, ready to unsheathe it if necessary. “Only things you will find here are demons, devils, and a hell of a lot of vampires.”
Maybe talking to this guy was a bad idea. He took a half step back from Rem, espeically when he noticed the hand on his sword. He thought just thanking the man for is help and leaving would be the best option but for some reason his mouth seemed not to agree.
He stood up straighter and passively readjusted his hood as he spoke, “Stensia, thank you.” he nodded, and continued “If that’s the case then why are you here?”
