What do y’all think of this new look for Princey! I based her off a flame angelfish to keep her reds but make her a bit more tropically vibrant!

when i think of you i can't help but think of "Perfect Isn't Easy" from Oliver & Company
I feel like someone tells me this every day
“I have your hearts and you have my pity.”
Yep. I can believe it. All 20k of us.
Yes, I’m still doing this stuff, though it’s been a while since I’ve uploaded, hasn’t it? Thing is, I *love* drawing, even when I don’t always have time to practice. Still, I’ve been getting much more confident with my art as of late, and I’m at the point where I can stop worrying so much just because I can’t get a single line right.
obliqueuncertainty replied to your post: Love the art of your D&D character, Kirin.
She’s the fastest motherfucker in the group and she spooks way too easily, it’s the perfect combination

Can we just raise a glass for DMs everywhere?
So, if you’ve been in touch with me on Discord, there’s a chance you may have seen me pressing to make a vote on a new ask blog. Thing is, I haven’t drawn anything for about a month now, and I’m looking to get off my happy ass and change that, start the new year off right with this ambition to improve. True, my art isn’t the best - but does it really have to be? At this point I feel like I’ve been too focused on making my art “good” rather than just allowing myself to grow as an artist naturally, and it causes me to get caught up and try to micromanage every stroke, when really I should just be allowing the art to flow as it will.
I’m not surprised by who won, but... given I kinda go by one of these names in most online communities I’m active in, it’s truly a surprise that the vote was so close. I genuinely expected Amethyst to be completely shut out here, but in reality the vote kept even up to the end.
A bit of fanart for Laura the Zony. I can’t remember if I’ve ever said it, but she’s one of two, maybe three tumblr artists that initially inspired me to pick up a pencil/stylus and take up the hobby for myself - and I can only say it’s been a blast.
the worst feeling about trying to draw is being a mediocre artist. You realize you’re not terrible and family and friends who have can’t draw at all tell you all the time how amazing you are, but you, as the artist, have seen what amazing really is and you realize that it isn’t you.
Understood ? Practice dude.
All the tutorials I reblog here can certainly help but you won’t get better just from looking at them. It takes time and practice to get better !
Practice. I mean seriously.

Another thing, to artists starting out. If you find yourself in the shoes of the outsider looking in as it were, try putting yourself in the artist's position before you ask that question. If you know *what* part of your art you're trying to improve upon, artists will be able to give you information that is so much more relevant than "don't stop practicing".
You know what, every single cartoon blonde girl is a lesbian.
Helga Pataki.
I felt like drawing a horse, since it’s been so long since I’ve last done anything.
I drew a unicorn. Now I feel better.

So how’s the pacifist playstyle working for ya? I’ve been running a pacifist druid in a local game of mine, and I’ve found myself noticing that my character tends to either be useful or useless, depending on if I can do my thing before everyone clumps together into one big murdercircle.
(Also, it doesn’t help that when playing with local groups rather than friends, people will hate you if they get caught in your area-of-effect spells, even if doing so would technically get the most use out of your spells.)
They just keep coming. For a bit of clarification, the (Night) in the title refers to the fact that I’m doing these drawings on break where I work, meaning I get an hour tops for everything on the paper, then take the picture at the end of my break. Kind of a shame, too - I’d actually darkened the bottom-left picture, and added a new one in the upper-left before coming home. In any case - good news is that I’m starting to get a feel for how to draw Star Catcher, however, the fact that I’m using a single artist as a reference means that I can’t be certain whether I’m actually learning to draw, or just learning to draw poses the artist has already done. So - and this’ll certainly be interesting - the next thing I’ll be aiming for is to use different artists for pose/gesture references, while still aiming to keep this art style.
I’ll be honest, this is kinda starting to blow my mind. It’s been just under a year since I’ve started drawing, but with all the breaks I’ve taken, I’ve only really been actively practicing for about 3 months tops. That said, to go from this:
to what I just posted? That’s some mindblowing sh*t right there.
Just found out neanderthal passed on the DNA for depression and now we know why they stayed in caves and painted horses all fuckin day
Reblog if you’re a depressed neanderthal who stays in their cave and paints horses all fuckin day
I work nights, so I guess so.
Damn Beakley.

This is actually such an amazingly motivational post because it explains visually exactly what art block is. Do you know what art block is?
Art block is that moment when you realise your skills could be so much more then they currently are. It frustrates you to draw because you can finally see your drawings differently. You can see where they can be better and you want them to be better. It’s not a matter of “I can’t draw today”, it’s a matter of “I imagined this would turn out so much better” and “there’s something missing, I just know it. What technique did I miss.” You’ve got past that temporary phase of analysing and researching and now you’re able to incorporate it in your own work, you just need to figure out how, and when you get past that art block. Well, you’ll see the improvement before you know it. Slowly, but it’s there. And once you get comfortable with using those new skills you’ll move on and start analysing again, and you’ll see where you can improve.
Stay experimental and open to learn, it’s the quickest way to get over art block.
So, I haven’t done anything with the tablet for a few days, and I didn’t feel like going to sleep at work. Have some Star Catcher. Ultimately my goal with this sketchdump was to work on the muzzle, and I felt like doing Star because I hadn’t drawn her in some time. The images used for references are from Star Catcher’s Corner (Artist:ProbablyFakeBlonde) I know I’ve mentioned her a lot, but she’s amazing at what she does. Seriously, go check her out at ( http://probablyfakeblonde.tumblr.com/ )
