Soulmates?
Most definitely. There’s no other way to define how close we were. And we were-- we were close. We’ve never been able to stay out of each other’s orbits, not since being introduced over tea that afternoon.
Even so, that doesn’t change what I must do.

Not often, I’m afraid.

How are you planning on defeating a guy with an unbeatable wand?
Gellert? He’s far from unbeatable, and I-- of all people-- know how to defeat him.
I don’t know if I believe in God, but I certainly do believe that we were meant to exist in the same time-- Gellert and I. We were meant to learn together, teach each other, make plans... betray each other.
And eventually, one of us is meant to kill the other.

Ever thought about taking Dippet’s job when he retires?
Perhaps in a dream once, but I can’t imagine actually doing it.
I feel that there are probably people better suited for the job. Besides, when Headmaster Dippet retires I may to be too busy to step up even if they require me.

There seems to be classifications of spells, DADA spells are jinxes and countercurses, and charms are obviously charms, but what would be the equivalent for transfiguration?
It’s important to understand the nature of differing transfiguration spells, and to know exactly what you intend to change about the subject. It’s so easy for things to go terribly wrong. The transfiguration of a subject can be dangerous, particularly when dealing with living things, and some transformations can be irreparable.
For example, it would be foolish to use a Vanishment spell when you mean to use a Transformation spell. There are also Conjuration spells, Switching spells and various difficult reversal spells.
I have office hours posted if you’d like to learn more, and some literature to loan if you’re interested.

Professor, how did you figure out that you wanted to teach at Hogwarts?
Well, I was an excellent Transfiguration tutor when I was a student. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do after school, but I wanted to continue seeking knowledge. So, I decided to teach at Hogwarts.
On the off season (summer) do you live at hogwarts or elsewhere?
No, professors aren't permitted to use their castle lodging during the summer. I have a small flat during the off season.
Do you use an owl right now to keep up with your correspondents?
Of course, how else am I to keep up? My owls very tired, but they’re doing the best they can.
