Tangram Exercise
Line Exercise - Version 2.0
Line Exercises is the first lesson to learn in Architecture. It helps you understand the importance of every stroke drawn by you, and ease your hand.. Blah... Blah... Blah...
All that does make sense... But, do they really have to be so boring???
I have tried something today to spice the exercise up with a newspaper ad.
A basic design exercise to encourage visualization, through sounds.
Introduction to Product design- Elective for 4th yr architecture students
6 Sessions
6 Exercises
5 Topics
Teaching Product design in just 6 sessions is impossible. The course outlines the essential understanding and thought to read, analyze and to start designing products for starters.
Graphic Design elective for 4th yr architecture students.
6 lectures
6 studios
6 topics
Sugar, Spice and everything nice.
Tried teaching graphics as cooking science, covering all the essential ingredients and equations, garnished with Psychology references. No one's exercise was judged based on the looks, but on the rules they have followed and how they used them to communicate.
Understanding Platonic solids
combined with surface development exercise with regular polygons.
A 2D to 3D thermocol, basic design exercise. The students were asked to trace their hand outline on thermocol and asked to replicate the same shape. Then they were asked to make any mudra with their hands by addition ad subtraction method.
Basic design exercise to understand modules...
Students were given one expendable object (like cups/Cds/playing Cards/Bottles) with one binding agent (like staples, rope/adhessive) and asked to build an installation.
With Minal Sagre
Chamfering...
Chamfering of mount board.... The thing I hated the most in my architecture workshop. It was so monotonous and we were asked to make cubes. It always took me 26 sides to chamfer to make a cube and realize how much i sucked at it...
But, this exercise is a fun way to build walls and do the real model making. Btw, every student gets to design & build his/her own maze.
A simple surface replication exercise, combined with Plaster of Paris.
Its fun...
Postcards are beautiful.. They are cheap, strong and also come with a constraints. It makes a nice canvas for a 3D design exercise which can go places....
Basis design exercise to understand Positive & negative spaces.
Perspective for Dummies....
An introduction to architectural perspective. Fun, new and innovative way to undersand perspective. A never before seen method to teach perspective I boast to say that even an 8yr old can understand this method.
All started with a question - How can I make every body in the class look through my eye, so that i can explain my eye's erspective.
Dumb Charades... Just because one is talking doesn't meanhe is communicating. This module was designed, especially to help designers give great, memorable and reasonable presentations. Charades of thoughts and ideas - a designer's game as long he lives.
Simple sense & simple science to great presentations.
Anthropometry...
If its taught properly, it will make total sense.. and total fun too.
One of the most tormenting question I had, when I was a student. Explained in the language of a layman....
History+Science+Psycology+Biology+Design
"A picture is worth a thousand words", i just need a few to put forth my ideas...
A teaching module on how to doodle....
