forgotten middle child syndrome the number 68 stuck between her funny number siblings 67 and 69. is this anything.
There was recently a copyright infringement case in YA and I need everyone to know that the following sentence was in the legal decision:
“Hot, sexy, dangerous boys, central to virtually all young adult romance novels, cannot be copyrighted.”
“Regarding setting, the court held that both works taking place in Alaska high schools was not protectable because Alaska is a public place and setting a teen novel in a high school is a common genre convention.”
Freeman v. Deebs-Elkenaney | Loeb & Loeb LLP
I've read the entire decision (skimming over the purely legal precedent/definitions bit) and here are some of my favorite bits:

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.
I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.
Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.
Fandom is not social media.
Fandom is not trends.
Fandom is a cross between a library and having a slumber party with your friends.
"Old" means nothing to fic.
You will be remembered as a hero

huge fan of the depth of a good purple but another area that draws me is definitely around aquamarine/turquoise/seafoam. you can not go wrong once the green starts getting just a tinge more blue. a gal could certainly do worse than to pull over there and stay a while
something earth shattering going on here
this is why one of my favorite all-time paintings is Ship in Stormy Seas by Ivan Aivazovsky... he was really onto something there
a close up to just... light shining through those waves, makes me feel faint with exhilaration every time
THERE IS A BOAT BY IVAN AIVAZOVSKY!!
Ivan Aivazovsky could paint glowing water. One of the GOATs for sure.
Any crashtos headcanons?
Sure! Sorry for the delay, this got lost in my drafts...
any antagonism between them is one-sided, trinity thinks they're friendly and victoria think they're beefing (kinda canon? :D)
santos would have hang-ups over their age difference bc of some backstory trauma of hers
victoria is way more online but trinity knows better memes. she's a vine girly.
victoria is actually the "meaner" one out of the two of them, because she will read people to filth while trinity is mostly joking
idk, not an exhaustive list but just a few things I keep thinking about
Strange racists and homophobes on the internet seem to have access to an alternate way cooler version of TV than me. "every white character on TV is in an interracial relationship" "every show has a gay couple in it" "main characters keep having to secretly be bisexual and nonbinary" "every show has gratuitous full frontal nudity" like damn promise?? What channel???
CW: religion, catholicism
People who weaponise the bible against others are wortless heathens, because no catholic worth their salt can hatecrime gay people or immigrants without bursting into flames. God loves all his children, Jesus seeks out those who have been pushed away and othered. That's the whole core of it, if we're being honest.

I was scrolling through some of my older posts and saw smthn about Garcia just not being out to her family yet.
Let's think about this:
When making remarks about other people's lives and relationships theu don't ever spout back so either
A.) She had a long term relationship before that people know is a line crossed to joke about
Or
B.) She's never been in a long term relationship as long as she's been at that hospital
Now trauma surgeons are very busy people so it makes sense for someone to not want to get into a relationship long term.
But there's also kinda of a clear banner waving above Garcia that says I have commitment/intimacy issues. Maybe she views relationships as sexual because that's all she can ever have without losing her loved ones. Even if she wants more, it's either the girl or the family and she just keeps on choosing her family.
If that's the truth (it's not but I'm bored) that'd be Hella sad given she is anywhere from 29 - 33 in S2. Meaning that either A she is a late in life lesbian and still needs to come out or b she's known forever but also knows her family is homophobic and would disown her.
Maybe she just has intimacy issues from something that happened in her past that makes her feel as though she's only ever worth the night. Or maybe she just has always liked to announce to everyone that she's fucking her coworker and there's nothing tragic about it
Noah Wyle your children wants answers.
I like the idea of her being a "late bloomer" regarding her sexuality, like maybe she got through college thinking she's just not into dating before realising she actually likes women and that's why dating men seems unappealing.
maybe she's trying to compensate for the late start by having a bit of a hoe phase and also letting everyone know how much sex she has now. she's certainly not shy about sleeping with santos and her flirting in general isn't subtle.
it would also be fun if her family isn't aware because she just doesn't know how to tell them at this point in her life. like, she's made it this far with them thinking she's just a loner and it's fine, and they're kinda religious potentially, so she just ignores that stuff. until garsantos are actually dating and she want to bring her girlfriend home for a holiday visit. santos agrees to come and be moral support, but half expects to get kicked out after her own parents reaction.
i like to think they'd be fine with it, maybe something akin to that heated rivalry scene where the parents are basically like "it's fine that you're gay but why that guy" from what I've gathered. in one interview ametz says that garcia comes from this family of high achievers so maybe they're more like "it's fine that you're gay honey but did it have to be emergency medicine" (without trying to actually disparage santos lol, i want them to like her)
i'm actually thinking about writing something on this, i kinda like the idea
LIVE ABBOT AND ROBBY REACTION:
a seriously underrated rated part of the pitt is just how much trinity and jack admire each other
the power of hitting 'end task' on a glitchy program in task manager is intoxicating. i feel like an assassin. i feel like a tyrant. you don't want to work properly? begone. off with your head. i need to kill my apps with a guillotine
i personally think that trinity has her life relatively together outside of acute sleep depriviation due to her R2 year starting and her whole situationship thing.
she's financially stable enough to rent a two-bedroom without actually depending on her roommate paying rent. she was an elite athlete AND studied medicine, so she probably has some general sense of discipline because without it she would have flunked out of both. she obviously has a history with self-harm but is aware enough to go for non-destructive coping mechanisms like primal-scream-therapy, aka karaoke with a friend. she takes critiscism well as long as it's fair and not screamed at her, and her opinion and skills are valued by her colleagues.
which is why it's hilarious to me when she's depicted as this little wet-cat incompetent mess who needs to be saved by yolanda or baran... who have heaps of issues on their own if we're being serious for a moment.
yolanda is a hypocrite who tells santos to play well with others when she doesn't do that herself. she has no issues with the whole ED and hallway knowing they're hooking up but blows off their plans without any good reason. in my opinion she has some kind of commitment/intimacy issues on top of some internalized misoginy that has her acting like "one of the boys" and being a jerk to people or starting beef with the ED staff.
and baran... omg girl, her whole thing with her seizures is not to be taken lightly. what do you mean she never told her ex. that's crazy to me! she literally ends the day crying in her car and as much as i think she's a competent doctor and this is very unfair and tragic - she needs to disclose that to admin and the dmv. she probably has some kind of trauma about babies/little kids from her stint in that maternety ward. she's not the perfect problem-free saviour either.
so yeah, idk. i just think it would be interesting to see that side of things too. most of the time it's trinity getting hurt or crashing out and yolanda/baran swooping in to fix things. feels a bit one-sided.
