was thinking about how astarion's canonically kind of obnoxious about pda (old post about it if you want some examples) and it got me #pondering

it was almost definitely a manipulation tactic and a display of power at first right? like "hm better do all i can to make sure they fall in love with me" mixed with "haha i'm dating the party leader so i'm protected and safe and better than all of you"

but by the end of his romance it seems sincere so that got me wondering how that transition went

most realistically he probably didn't notice the change happening, but i also like the idea of him one day having a moment where he goes to blatantly grab his partner's ass in front of the party or something, thinks to himself, "wait, i don't need to do this," and then thinks some more and realizes, "wait, i want to do this" and then he proceeds to become even more handsy and obnoxious from then on
