i finally have enough time to properly draw again, so i'm treating myself to a PTA Mom VS. Twilight Saga. listen all i want is a silly little post reveal story with silly little shenanigans and extreme pettiness + perfectionism from twilight in the most trivial of matters. is that too much to ask?

i am going to tag this under 'spy x pta' LMAO

(for those who don't know, PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. commonly in elementary schools, parents in the PTA are often stereotyped as overbearing, overly competitive, and petty)

Blinding Lights

Happy New Year! Since it's a special occasion, I wanted to share this artwork I'd painted years ago and the story that goes with it:

On my 15th birthday, my dad bought me my first proper stylus and I was so excited about it that I immediately decided I was use it to draw something big. I'd found a nice reference image I'd saved on Pinterest, even though my digital drawing skills at the time weren't quite up to par yet, and spent MONTHS working on an artwork I eventually titled 'Blinding Lights'.

I was so proud of it when I finally finished. I used to call it my 'magnum opus'. I'd always planned on posting it online eventually but I didn't have an art account at the time. And then when I got an art account, I didn't want to post it until I got good enough at digital art to where I could post regularly. So for years, I just kept it saved to my laptop until the day I finally felt like it the right time to post it.

One year ago in 2024, my laptop stopped working and I lost the files to all the digital art I'd ever made. It wasn't the worst situation; all my photos and school files were backed up so I recovered those. And most of the art I was happy, I'd posted on my art accounts. The only artwork I hadn't recovered was the one artwork I hadn't yet posted. The one I cared about the most and had built up the most appreciation for was gone...UNTIL about two months later, when I got a new laptop and finally logged into my OneDrive account and saw that I had saved the image as my profile picture. So here it is, in low-res cropped 256x256 pixel quality! I'm posting it now because after all this time I finally feel happy enough to post my drawings and I hope to post more over the next year. Maybe one day I'll fill out the background - I probably won't though. I like the story that circle holds. Nonetheless, thanks if actually read though this story and best wishes for 2026!

Finally posting this illustration I drew for the Year of the Snake. Every year, my mum gets me to draw posters of that year's Zodiac animal (or at least try to) so that they can be hung as house decorations. I would have posted it closer to Lunar New Year but my mum kept insisting that I add to the scales to "make it look cool" (she had a point though).
