Which ideas are just How Things Are, and which ones are Political, and how is that influenced by the creator's beliefs?

With all the talk and praise about how Gothic cinema is so back, I really hope to see people keep this energy up if/when Mārama releases internationally. This looks like it's going to be a really gorgeous film and not only is it one of the first Aotearoa/New Zealand Gothic films, but it's specifically a Māori Gothic horror.

And don't even get me started on the poster design!! I gasped when I saw the tag line on the trailer
