About Me!

I haven't made one of these yet, so I wanted to!

My name is astheforcewillsit (a sideblog for @stilltrails my blog for period dramas, Game of Thrones/HotD, Tolkien, & comic books). I love Star Wars, and love sharing my theories and stories here.

I am passionate about the clones & Jedi. I write in detail about the Jedi and their culture and their connection to the Force, and am working on a series about their culture intersecting with clone culture. For the most part, I post positive things about both groups, but I consider myself Jedi neutral based on their interactions with the clones. If you see any critical takes of the Jedi Order on my page, it will be primarily from that.

This page is 18+ I will write about mature topics in my work. This may include very dark themes, toxic relationships, and so on. It's not always that, but on the occasion it does come up, you've been warned.

There are shipping dynamics I do not like, there are ships I hate, but I simply block and move on. For the most part, will not harass people for shipping dynamics I don't like. However, shipping underage ships is where I draw the line, and will encourage people to block and share information about people who do this if this is the case so that fandom can be made aware. I

I will let most ship dynamics slide, but that is something I stand firm on.

I also do not interact with fandom that much. I don't always have the time, and sometimes fandom intimidates me, makes me anxious, and can be draining. But feel free to tag me in things, share things with me!

reading wwi fic (yes about thomas barrow ofc) and it makes me realise just how fucked up it was for the jedi to accept positions WHEN THEY WERE NOT MILITARY TRAINED as generals and commanders. some of the highest ranking officers.

Like in general I think Slick's words have been purposely misconstrued or disregarded due to his actions, and fandom fully believed that because the actions attached to his words were wrong (which they were), that the clones must have believed he was lying about the Jedi, or must have disagreed with them.

Only for Rex to say, "well maybe his intentions were good." Without jumping to defend the Jedi. And don't get me wrong, I don't think the Jedi are 100% to blame for what the clones have gone through.

But I think it's nice to see that Slicks' intentions weren't entirely damned by Rex of all people, and that he acknowledged that there needed to be a change in relation to the Jedi dynamic.

I think the clones are allowed to have complicated feelings about the Jedi leading them into battle, and I think it's realistic that even though the Jedi were put in a very unfair space, the clones would have mixed feelings about them.

Even Rex. And it's nice to get some confirmation about that.

Agreed. I feel like Slick’s characters suffers from the same shit all villains that have a suspiciously good ultimate point do: they do something so morally reprehensible that they remain evil to the narrative.

That and George Lucas himself never seemed to think of the clones as slaves.

Yeah, Star Wars' aversion to calling the Clones slaves has never sat right with me. Like ah, yes, Slick is clearly evil for *checks notes* not wanting to be enslaved and used as the Republic's cannon fodder anymore, and is bad for actively resenting the Jedi for perpetuating the system that keeps him and his brothers enslaved. Yes, very clearly selfish /s. And yeah, what he did about that wasn't very good, but people keep looking at his actions from the larger narrative perspective while failing to realize that he didn't have a reason to think that Ventress wasn't being genuine. Yeah, the Separatists might be bad, but remind me: who's using a slave army in this war? It sure as hell ain't the Separatists. A few brothers dead in exchange for millions of brothers (or however many clones there actually are) freed is a pretty low price to pay, and I don't blame Slick for being willing to pay it. Even if it's hundreds or thousands, tenfold or more would still end up freed rather than dead — in a world, of course, where Ventress isn't duping him.

People keep acting like the Clones are obligated to be sympathetic to the Jedi, and that they are being mean and uncharitable if they're not — it's fucking bullshit. The Star Wars fandom is truly the only place where you can find people insisting that a character is a bad person for being mad about being enslaved and actively resenting the people who perpetuate their slavery.

thinking about how Phee is one of the only natborns who's relationship with the clones isn't due to forced labor. Like I think she's one of the few natborns in the lives of the clone who's relationship with them hasn't composed of an uncomfortable power imbalance and puts them on equal scales with her.

The Bad Batch can refuse to do jobs for Phee if they want to. She gives them a choice. Like her relationship with the clones is so different than anything the Jedi or politicians had with them, and I think she deserves flower for being the first natborn to consider them family.

No strings attached.

No "sirs" or "we're made for you" or whatever.

And same goes with Suu.

The grim reality of Andor really drives home the absolute thin margins of error that Kallus was dealing with off-screen in the first three seasons of Rebels. While we haven’t seen his pathway in the ISB or how he got recruited as an undercover operative, we got enough context clues from what we saw in Andor to know that this man did so much.

Kallus had intimate knowledge of how the Empire and the ISB worked. He is intelligent and capable, so he figured out how to play the Imperial game to get himself ahead in his career. And once he started asking questions, he knew how to operate within the system to ensure the sunrise he might never get to see.

The fact that it was Thrawn who figured out he was a Fulcrum agent means that Kallus was doing a damn good job. Thrawn just operates on a different level from everyone else in the Empire. Kallus likely knew that and figured out that he was on borrowed time once Thrawn showed up on the scene. But he still got up and did everything he could.

Kallus justifiably deserves his flowers. He got to see his sunrise.

I wish people realized that Mace and Qui-Gon were incredibly close, and perhaps shared one of the strongest bonds within the Order. Qui Gon didn't just love Obi-Wan, Dooku, and Anakin. He loved Mace so much that he entrusted him with a mission after his death.

Like the appreciation and respect they had for one another goes unnoticed

I appreciate the irony of Thrawn wearing a white shirt even when out of uniform, but I tried different color combos on him and they just didn’t look right… turns out white is just his color LOL. Let’s just say that he’s wearing light colors for comfort, after all his Chiss biology wouldn’t mix well with Lysatran heat. XD (Thrawn wears long sleeved shirts to the beach send tweet.)

cultural differences are funny, because I can see Eli having the occasional young adult argument with his parents, and the Chiss just staring in horror as this young man blatantly disrespects his family in their eyes.

And it's not like Eli hates his parents, he just gets annoyed of them as most young adults do (no mom, i'm not going to come half across the universe to go to a family reunion. --No dad, I haven't found a partner yet. Yes, i'm eating--can i please call you back later--I'm not being short with you i'm just--okay bye you're both frustrating me.)

After the call, Aralani has to pull him in her office and explain how absurd it is to argue back and forth with one's family.

i wonder if there's a way to say that you don't necessarily dislike Rey, but you dislike the fact that her narrative is built off of racism and sidelining of characters of color. And while her story continues to be fleshed out, Poe, Finn, and Rose's stories have subpar, borderline offensive writing.

That we were baited with the fact that we would have a black Jedi, who's Jediness went to Rey and who's importance to Rey and the plot seemed to dwindle away.

I don't hate Rey, but I don't particularly care for her for the reasons above.

thinking of jyn repeatedly describing saw as kind and gentle and caring and compassionate in the rogue one novelization. thinking of how saw reaches out to wilmon so sincerely in the middle of his speech and how wilmon would not have become who he was by the end of the series without that. thinking of all the grief and weariness we see saw carry in rogue one… he’s often seen as either this goated legendary badass or as dangerously volatile but he actually retains so much space for softness and he expresses his feelings so openly and i love that so much about him. this post isn’t going anywhere i just think he’s wonderful.
