Hey, it’s Astra here, but you can also call me Selva🐾

I’m a female canine born in 2009 and i live in Northern Italy, my motherland.

I’m a wolf, an African lioness and a dog. This blog is about my canine experiences, so you probably won’t see much lion content.

I’m a psychological, biological and ancestral animalkin and otherhearted.

🌔 WOLF 🐺

I’m every subspecies of wolf, but I’m mainly a melanistic one: I have wolf genetics but also a bit of dog’s, which is a cause of melanism in wolves.

Every forest populated by wolves it’s my home, but Yellowstone National Park has my heart.

I’m very protective (especially towards pups), vigilant and territorial. I also have dominance tendencies. I’m also very playful and affectionate.

My favourite prey is elk (I don’t eat meat irl, this is just my wolf preference).

I’m radiocollared and my ID is 1309F.

I have a wolf’s brain, genetics and ancestors. Because of this, I believe to be only 10-15% human. Even if I acknowledge my humanity to some degree, I would like to not be referred as human if possible.

I awakened as a wolf kin on June 2023, when I also awakened as a therian for the first time and joined the community.

🐾 DOG 🐶

I’m every medium and large sized dog and a black high content wolfdog.

I’m very connected to specific breeds such as Belgian sheperds, Asian sheperds, GSD, Bucovina sheperd and just black and white coated dogs like border collies, etc.

My dog identity has two sides: cute lap dog and fierce and combative dog.

I’m really connected to collars, leashes, kennels, dog toys and dog snacks but I’m also very connected to protecting livestock, fighting with other dogs, biting,…just being a potentially aggressive dog, especially towards the ones of its kind and same sex.

But hey, I don’t have any livestock to protect or rivals to fight off, so don’t be scared, I won’t bite. I tend to be mostly friendly and tolerant, we can get along, just don’t provoke me (that will result in blocking, which would be like growling and snapping at you).

I awakened as a dog kin in August 2024.

How i feel when people touch me when i'm already overstimulated:

Ears pinned back, whale eye, slightly growling and baring teeth.

Sometimes they should be grateful that snapping and biting isn't socially accepted and this wolfdog adapts to human norms.

I just feel so disrespected sometimes, but as a dog. I mean, you shouldn't randomly touch a dog, even if it knows you. But ig i don't get to have this treatment lol.

I know that they're not doing it on purpose and they can't really tell when i'm overstimulated as i tend to mask a lot (+ they don't know i'm a dog who doesn't like to be randomly pet by people i didn't give mentally consent to), but OMG.

I swear i need to buy one of those collars that say "don't pet" or "ask to pet" (but i struggle with social anxiety so i wouldn't even wear it among those people hah...)

I'm good enough to not bite, but you've made me feel uncomfortable enough to lick my lips and pinning my ears back.

Keep your hands off, don't randomly pet dogs.

WHAT’S A RADIOCOLLAR❓

A radiocollar is a device placed around the animal’s neck, like a real collar, and it’s mostly used on wildlife.

Thanks to this device, the movements, migration routes, and habitat use of animals are monitored using the global positioning system.

The spatial and temporal resolutions provided by the GPS tracking method allow the identification of critical habitats, migration routes, and breeding grounds, which are essential for the survival of species.

The method has been found to be very useful in the conservation of endangered species, as it provides the opportunity for continuous tracking without invading the habitat of the species.

WHY DO I FEEL CONNECTED TO IT❓

Everytime I come across a picture of a wild canine or feline wearing one of these collars I immediately think “yup, that’s me”.

As a domestic dog, I’ve always felt very connected to dog collars, and this connection doesn’t end when I’m feeling more wild.

I’m a wild animal, but my life is constantly “monitored” by humans: I have to depend on them when it comes to friendships, relationships, food, house, school/work, public transport,… all of these things can’t miss in my life and, in order to have them, I have to be with humans and to depend on them.

Humans also take care of my wellbeing, like doctors and psychologists. And the humans I live with actually track me on a geo locator app to make sure they know where I am in case something happens and they need to reach me.

On this aspect, it’s something kinda “philosophical”: this connection reflects how I feel in my life with humans. Wild animals normally shouldn’t wear collars, but these devices are necessary for their individual and specie wellbeing, and so humans are in my life.

But there’s another aspect: the more animalistic one.

The tought of being an animal with a radiocollar makes me really euphoric bc it’s like being a registered wolf, an “official” wolf, if that makes sense (and a lioness aswell).

I would love to have a real radiocollar as gear, but it would be really expensive and I don’t know if you can just randomly buy one.

So, a few months ago I’ve decided to give myself an ID number like the ones radiocollared wolves are identified as (based on their birth date, etc.).

My ID number is 1309F.

HOW DID I CHOOSE THIS ID❓

13 -> it would be 2013, when I started to experience my first animalistic experiences.

09 -> I’ve born in 2009.

F -> stands for “female”, my gender.

I swear to god, there's something about THIS SPECIFIC fox that makes me go feral, like that's ME?!

I'm sure you've seen these pictures before, they're everywhere, and I know a shit ton of therians resonate with them too

It's just so fascinating to me idk

I can't really pinpoint my exact fur pattern as a cross fox but everytime I look at this guys' pictures I just feel a certain way 😩

I don't mean that in a factkin way either, I'm not LITERALLY that specific fox, but we just look super similar idk?? I know there's probably quite the filter over these pictures and that the fox most likley doesn't have such vibrant fur, and I don't either, but idk it just feels right, you feel me?? Maybe it's the face??

It's so surreal but something about this fox makes me feel euphoric, dysphoric and shifty at the same time

These pictures and others move something inside me, even if i don't consider myself a fox.

I feel like cross foxes could be me, but at the same time i'm not a fox...idk.

I wonder what power these animals have, a power that moves something inside some of us even if we're not them...

When I joined the therian community in 2023 and mostly watched TikTok and YouTube videos as I still didn’t know tumblr was a thing, I remember the incredible demonisation of prey drive. It was like pure evil, everyone was just so scared of it, who experienced it and who didn’t.

But I mean- if you’re a predator, wouldn’t it be normal to experience prey drive? I think it’s fine if you can control it and don’t actually end up killing a squirrel bare hands…?

People were even saying that starting to experience it wasn't a sign of therianthropy..? Like what?

Idk, was it something like the demonisation of physical therianthropy and dog treats?
