hi we changed our name okay ? Don't forget us pls

the other day i learned that taking a long time to fall asleep is called “sleep latency” which is just the funniest thing to me tbh
napping is easy because your brain is connecting to the Sleep Server at low traffic hours for your region.
when everyone is trying to get on the Sleep Server during high traffic hours, night in your region, the lag is at its worst and many people can’t even connect to the server at all that’s why falling asleep at night is hard thank you for coming to my ted talk
i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa
Places where reality is a bit altered:
playgrounds at night
rest stops on highways
deep in the mountains
early in the morning wherever it’s just snowed
trails by the highway just out of earshot of traffic
schools during breaks
those little beaches right next to ferry docks
bowling alleys
unfamiliar mcdonalds on long roadtrips
your friends living room once everybody but you is asleep
laundromats at midnight
• any target • churches in texas • abandoned 7/11’s • your bedroom at 5 am • hospitals at midnight • warehouses that smell like dust • lighthouses with lights that don’t work anymore • empty parking lots • ponds and lakes in suburban neighborhoods • rooftops in the early morning • inside a dark cabinet
galeries in art museums that are empty except for you
the lighting section of home depot
stairwells
•hospital waiting rooms •airports from midnight to 7am • bathrooms in small concert venues
I just got the weirdest feeling I swear
OK LISTEN THERE ARE REASONS FOR THIS!!!
A lot of these places are called liminal spaces - which means they are throughways from one space to the next. Places like rest stops, stairwells, trains, parking lots, waiting rooms, airports feel weird when you’re in them because their existence is not about themselves, but the things before and after them. They have no definitive place outside of their relationship to the spaces you are coming from and going to. Reality feels altered here because we’re not really supposed to be in them for a long time for think about them as their own entities, and when we do they seem odd and out of place.
The other spaces feel weird because our brains are hard-wired for context - we like things to belong to a certain place and time and when we experience those things outside of the context our brains have developed for them, our brains are like NOPE SHIT THIS ISN’T RIGHT GET OUT ABORT ABORT. Schools not in session, empty museums, being awake when other people are asleep - all these things and spaces feel weird because our brain is like “I already have a context for this space and this is not it so it must be dangerous.” Our rational understanding can sometimes override that immediate “danger” impulse but we’re still left with a feeling of wariness and unease.
Listen I am very passionate about liminal spaces they are fascinating stuff or perhaps I am merely a nerd.
I, for one, appreciate your passion for liminal spaces and thank you for explaining it to the rest of us.
I get the playgrounds at night because I walk to one that’s near my house at night sometimes and hang out. I always feel like I’m being watched or followed, or rather something out of the ordinary is happening
the whole mutual thing is really overhyped on this site. sometimes interests don’t match up and that’s the only reason why there isn’t a mutual following. if you’re a regular in my inbox or my notifications, i have visited your blog before. if i didn’t want you around for any reason, you would be blocked. so yeah. you can spam my notes and/or talk with me (and possibly become my friend) even if i’m not following you back. no worries.
i honestly don't really understand why "some people prefer watching gameplay online rather than playing games themselves" is treated as such a taboo when being a spectator is considered a pretty mundane way to engage with most sports, game shows, reality tv or even just like. chess.
let’s talk about how they made it impossible to function without a phone and digitalised everything and then turned around and went “actually! these phone things aren’t safe for kids but it’s magically ok once you’re eighteen. guess you’ll have to have your life dictated by your parents now lol cause we’re gonna take the devices away from you. IT’S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING”
ok my apologies. take away my ability to buy anything too ig because these fuckass stores don’t accept cash anymore. take away my ability to communicate with people outside my house and school because I can’t text and I can’t email and I cant drive to them either and I can’t even fucking get public transport without a phone either. can’t order at a fucking restaurant without being asked to get a membership and install an app and also very sorry but you can only order through our online menu now! have you ever considered that it’s not just about instagram?
I watched Iron Lung again tonight in the comfort of my home and my dog must've been watching with me cause as soon as bad things started happening to Simon she started crying. In the scene where he ultimately dies she could not stop crying at me. I am now watching him play the Henry Stickman collection so she can see that A.) He's not dead and B.) He's not in distress. Occasionally he'll whine or hum in discontent about something and my dog will look at me and whine to try and get me to fix whatever is distressing Markiplier.

honestly changing our name has been a long time coming,,
the name the constellation collective game from a time when we were very largely In Stars and Time fictives, especially of Siffrin, and were all very connected to stars.
Well now there's about ten of us, and only two (me and Dawn) are of the original Siffrins (Reese was around too, but I'm not counting them bc they're not an introject/fictionkin from ISAT). Most of us just aren't as connected to the name as we used to be.
this is a name that we've agreed upon and it fits us now. It may change again in the future, but that isn't a bad thing. For now we think this is perfect for us.
I will never apologise for entertaining the concept of hopepunk. I don't care if people think it's cringe, or whatever. Celebrating the small wins that give hope is vital to the fight at large as without them, people burn out.
Hope is never superfluous.
I'm seeing more and more people beginning to accept that pedophilia doesn't equal child predation out in the wild. Maybe there is hope!
There is always hope! Educating people about the difference between paraphilia and harmful action does make changes little by little.
It's like how I've been seeing more and more people realize that sociopath/psychopath =/= serial killer, and narcissist =/= abuser. Speaking up about using the correct language does encourage change!
if someone (*cough cough* our grandma) brings food we dislike and then tries to guilt us into eating it, we will blow up the entire function with fireworks
super excited to read this actually :3
it's not smth we'd usually read, so it's unusual that we decided to purchase it instead of renting it from our local library (we only ever buy books if we're 100% certain we'll enjoy them). But we know House of Leaves isn't a super easy read, and we wanted more than three weeks so we can take our time with it and really absorb it.
