A smile tugged at her features as a giggle echoed from her lips, a light blush burning through her tan cheeks  ---  the effect of her mother’s familiar voice.  “Mom, please...”  She wasn’t a child any more, but... god had she missed this;  their time together.  They’d always been close, because when Ruby was growing up they had no one except each other. But they had spent less and less time together since Sam took over at LCorp, and that was bad enough for the twelve year old. So not being able to see her mom for weeks, as Lena, Alex, and Supergirl tried to save her, it was heartbreaking.

“Is my mom definitely all better? Like for good this time?”  Ruby questioned Lena, a little hesitant to believe all this won’t happen again. Of course she trusted Lena and Alex, but... “Because it came back once before and... i’m just... i’m scared she might become evil again. Like what if she hurts people again.”  For as long as she could remember, Sam had been such a genuinely caring person; and even though Ruby understood this as some kind alien plague, the idea of her mom hurting anyone didn’t make sense to her.

She felt bad,  guilty almost.  Agent Danvers  —  who was usually working to take down the bad guys, or helping out Supergirl  —  had been left to look after her while everyone else was trying to fix her super villain Mom.  “Sorry…”  Ruby murmured, as she looked down at the ground for a moment.  She missed her Mom, she missed her old life.  She had complained for so long about Sam not being around enough for her, but she would take a work-a-holic Mom over having no Mom  ( or an evil one )  any day.  “I didn’t mean to wake you, I just can’t stop thinking about my Mom.”  She also couldn’t help but wonder if she had the same evil side to her.
