i see a lot of arguments that video games are actually the cheapest they've ever been, and Chrono Trigger would have cost like $200 US if it came out today. which seems plausible.

but they usually go on to argue that this means gamers just need to suck it up and be glad they're "only" paying $80 US in today's money, which is stupid. Like obviously the takeaway from this is that video games used to be a hobby for rich people only?
